Stroll and Alonso traded running the long side pods. Alonso ran them in FP1 and Stroll in FP2. Be interesting what they go with tomorrow. The long side pods are supposed to be better for high and low speed corners. The shorter side pods for medium speed corners.

Looking at the disrupted session it's hard to say but race pace is still not great on high fuels but we somehow got the fastest car in a straight line. It might be Alonso train all over again

Alonso had a slipstream last section in his fastest lap. If the race pace is relatively good enough it's gonna be very interesting race for AM.

Helmut thinks we are in a fight for P3 with Red Bull & Merc.
"No, they looked fast - long runs, short runs with all sorts of tyres, especially Alonso," he said, while confirming Red Bull is still struggling with balance issues despite a front wing tweak. "After Budapest, what they changed is really effective. Aston Martin is surprisingly fast. So I think it's a fight behind for P3 between Aston Martin, Mercedes and us.

Helmut thinks many things, rarely any of them were right

More like blocked, car in front was not going fast enough to create a "Hole" or "pocket"

Alex Wurz said, looking at the slipstream for ALO, that it isn’t worth much at this track and most of the speed at the main straight is a result of the traction out of the last corner. So inefficient cars like AMR are not that punished at this track, because there are no other long straights.

And one other thing: Cowell didn’t rule out for 100% another update for 2025, for the case it’s worth. With STRs crash I guess we can.

As usual it seems like they are good on Friday and then everyone else improves more on Saturday. So frustrating... Unless they have more in the bag for qualifying later.

normally they still should have. Aston was actually the only team that got slower since yesterday

Alonso got blocked on his fastest lap by Russell. His fastest lap came after several laps on that soft already. Anyways we were 8 tenths of mclaren in fp3 and were within a tenth In qualy at Hungary

it looked like, but S1 and S2 combined were actually a bit faster in his 2nd attempt. So not sure his time really would have been much better in the 1st.

Was really hoping we were the clear 2nd/3rd best team at least in quali trim, but looks like it will be close with Williams/Merc/Ferrari/RB/RBR, really needs a good lap or could even be out in Q2 for any of the teams apart from McLaren

They need to understand why they haven’t taken a step forward like other teams today. Maybe they can reverse some set up changes before qualifying.
