In the ANT LEC incident ANT toucht the inside rear tire, but the outside tire lost immediately pressure. Strange behavior.
the lateral G force (despite the banking) that the outside tyre on an F1 car have to resist in a fast corner, is tremendous. So already the tyre v/s rim bead grip is under duress (we have seen this umpteen times in slow motion replays where the tyre is 'wobbling' sideways). When the car is pushed further out (additional lateral G) by an impact, there will be moment where the tread is still gripping the road whilst the rim is violently pushed outwards => tyre gets ripped off the bead of the rim. Deflates.
