Apparently "sources" say that it auto shut down. Its understandable that Lando thought it was a failure since he lost power. But it does seem it stopped due to the detection of a leak, in ttempted prevention of engine damage.

Whether it is damaged is another question, but I wouldn't assume either way.

I feel like I’ve read that article on the race but I also I think I didn’t  as they report the engine switching off to protect itself but I haven’t read that anywhere before apart from in this thread.

After listening to my Instagram post again there isn’t any clunking sounds like the good ol’ days of pistons smashing into cylinder heads

Gutted for Lando, but maybe the burden of winning the tile if somewhat off, maybe he'll try to enjoy more. He is clearly still in the fight but now even if he losses the title it will be remebered that this DNF impacted the title fight and he won't blame himself too much...

Now..looking into the future (since this season is going soo well), do we have any information about updates for this year and if they already made a complete switch to next years car (which i hope they already made)?

No updates, just track specific stuff to be added on the car as we are 4 months away from the first (private) test in Jerez in mid January.

Burden? For what is he here for? Just having a good time in a 1sec faster car?
Sorry, but sounds a bit like when my 8 year old son plays Mario Kart on the lowest setting

No, he is not. He was never.
Like last season, this season will not be remembered at all. It is again a season of missed opportunities and mediocre performances of the drivers.

The year of the first McLaren WDC since 2008 won't be remembered? Sure, bud.

Actually I am speaking about Lando, not McLaren. The McLaren of 2025 will be historic as one of the best cars ever. I mean...I will forget about the RedBull, the McLaren was/is simply the pinnacle of this rule set.

But good example qith 2008...what I remember about 2008 is the Brazil race and Hamilton. I mean...I know that Heiki was in the second car. But what he did or how he did :? The point above was, that we will remember that Lando had an engine failure. Did Heiki suffer engine failures or anything else like good starts or bad starts? I fear the same will be true if you ask anyone about Lando in two years and this is a pity.
