I think Red bull will do quite well this week, if the car rotates well in parabolica, I think there's even a chance of pole. RB21 is probably the most aero efficient car on the grid, that combined with the fact that Red Bull will be bringing a new low DF wing to Monza for the 1st time these regs and the high speed corner performace whilst not suffering too much in chicanes, I think will make it very competitve with MCL.

Last season they weirdly didn't go faster on new softs in Q3, so that's another thing RBR have to look out for.

Ferrari as always will be competitive here, Merc remains a wildcard.

Had a feeling this track would suit the RB21, great lap from Max nonetheless for putting it on pole without a tow.

Did anyone notice the 'scissor cut' version of the lowDF wing ? ultra low DF (I still think it's more loaded than the Ferrari RW). Redbull can't keep their scissors away from rear wings
The pole can only mean two things - the new floor is actually working as a real upgrade, and SuperMax the driver always can be trusted to optimize the performance from the car. It was obvious that they were sacrificing S2 to gain in S1 and S3. And they did. Hope tyres stay alive in the race (1M and 2H, so maybe a 2-stop is planned, or maybe keeping 2H is a decoy to others and it's always been a 1-stop in plan). Excited for tomorrow.

Its an energy drink company. Obviously they prefer the PR of a pole and a P10 instead of maybe P4 and P7.

Better than having nothing to look forward to. At least McLaren's will hopefully need to pass Max on track to lead and Monza might not be the most trivial of places to pass.

Beyond the lessons from Zandvoort, there has been another key factor in Monza: Verstappen himself pushed through on the final set-up choices ahead of qualifying. It’s exactly what his radio message after qualifying – “It worked! Relax there, it’s all good” – referred to.

“Before qualifying, some people within the team wanted to try something else with the set-up, but I said: ‘No, we shouldn’t do that.’” Verstappen said. “When I walked back to my room, I could still see some faces and a few people doubting that set-up direction. But I just felt, ‘this is what we need to do,’ and luckily it worked out.”

When pointed out that the final call was more his than the team’s, Verstappen elaborated in the Dutch media session: “Well, in the end you make these decisions with multiple people, also with GP [Gianpiero Lambiase] and some other people around me.

I think this really good news! With such a low downforce, the balance of the car is determined by the floor downforce distribution. If the balance is good right now it could mean they really improved the base of the car.

He said the same thing about relying on empiric observation rather than simulator in late last year, but nothing changed much this year; plus I don't quite get the lower engine thing, on Friday the Red Bull was very low on engine. So I would wait for more race weekends before trusting Marko about this "new" approach.
