Formula 2

Not seeing a thread on the actual series (only one on the car itself - correct me if I’m wrong), so thought I’d start one off.

My initial comment will be that I can’t believe Fornaroli still doesn’t have an affiliation with an F1 team - surely Ferrari will pick him up if he continues like this? At the very least he could be a good hand for WEC and/or in the sim, but looks like a genuine F1 prospect. Not only is he mature and consistent - 5th place with the damaged FW in the feature race, ok with some help from the SC, was nonetheless a very mature bit of damage limitation- and with 4 wins now (3 sprint, 1 feature) he’s also shown he has more strings to his bow.

What say you, forum? Other folks were excited about? Dunne obviously has looked good in his McLaren outings.

He's on one of the best teams and doesn't put on big performances, so he doesn't attract much attention. He's in this position more due to the incompetence of his competitors than pure talent (at least that's my opinion).

His biggest problem is that he hasn't attracted much attention in F3 either, despite being champion last year (without winning a single race)... His track record prior to F3 isn't great either.

In his entire career after karting, he only had 5 win (4 were in F2, 3 of them in Sprints). It's not an impressive resume.

The level of F2 this year is quite weak, with some experienced drivers leaving a lot to be desired, like Verschoor and Crawford.

About Dunne, he's pretty fast, but he's also pretty psychopathic. He should have already been race-banned this year. His car is pretty fast too; just look at last year with Zane Maloney doing some pretty impressive races with the same car, just like Dunne has been doing.

Camara still hasn't made any announcements about getting a car for these last few races... are teams trying to lock down the F3 drivers that want to make the final 3 weeks for next year?
And what about Herta, is he gonna make an appearance in these races?

I don't think Herta will make it to F2 this year.

Regarding Camara, it's possible he'll compete in the last three races, but it will depend on the funding. Sometimes the driver's staff doesn't find it advantageous to pay for individual races. Bortoleto didn't do that last year, for example. It's all about money, you need to have a team where one of the regular drivers doesn't have the money to finish the year, and then you buy that seat until the end of the season.

Next year, Camara is expected to drive for Invicta.
