How do you measure the true greatness of a racing driver? Surely not by results alone.
Some drivers may achieve scant reward, but hold a place dear in the hearts of many fans. Or is it the case of simply achieving the most, thereby demonstrating a combination of pace and acumen.
Some pretty obvious names will leap out, I suppose starting with Michael Schumacher - who has been debated to death elsewhere.
I would place Nigel Mansell as someone who gets your heart when behind the wheel, but would not rate him as a great along with (in no particular order apart from the first named!) TAZIO NUVOLARI, Gilles Villenueve, Jim Clark, Stirling Moss, Ayrton Senna, Mario Andretti (yes, please don't forget some of the less obvious greats).
If I let my mind wander, the list could go on and on..........but let's hear your views and your favourites.
