New Idea - Formula 1.5 Spec Championship support races

Post

Often wondered who really is the best driver?

The rules are simple.

Spec Cars for all drivers. The formula changes slighty each year.

Take place as a qualifying and a "sprint" on Saturday at selected Grand Prix weekends.

Drivers points go towards an minor side championship.

The cars will have 99% homologated. Only team-specific communication and garage hardware is permitted as the only modifications. Supension can be tuned with a homologated set of springs and dampers... Power steering etc. It would be like the whole entire grid were teammates.

The cars will all be built by dallara. Engines will be naturally aspirated 4.0 liter engines making 800hp. Car weight 600kg.

No upgrades over the season to save cost.

It remains to be decided if the technicians, engineers and pit crew are those same ones from the driver's Grand Prix team.. But the logistics of how they use the garages will be similar to the lesser support series.

It is to be decided what distance each race will be. It could be a sprint distance (perhaps for the best.... No pitstops?) or a full 300km.

At the end of the day.. May the best driver win this Spec championship!

No, no mods. Spec cars. Random draw for the cars for each session.
