2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix - Baku, Sep 19-21

For ease of use, there is one thread per grand prix where you can discuss everything during that specific GP weekend. You can find these threads here.

I am deeply concerned that race threads are barely going past 10 pages. Where is everyone?! :wtf:
Yeah .. I was thinking the same a few months ago. My guess is it's just a kinda boring year for a lot of people.
Like Venky says; if Ver wins Singapore and Austin it's gonna be mayhem again.
Or maybe it is just that a lot of ppl can't be bothered with the race thread bickering/shenanigans any more.
But it is indeed remarkebly quite ..

This forum is a shadow of what it once was!
The fact it seems more associated PR people post than just fans of the sport, coupled with the horrendous page loading for most of this year means most folk can`t be arsed anymore...

Even that took around 20 seconds to post!

It’s just the two main contenders in what should be an exciting championship are so unbearably boring. They’re in the same team fighting for glory but there’s no antagonism, no controversy, no personality. It’s all so damn corporate and controlled. I guess Zak prefers it that way but it certainly doesn’t help fan engagement. We need a bit of edge between the McLaren boys, because Max is the only wildcard in the deck at the moment for fans. I remember the Lewis-Nico years, and that kept people interested just for the antagonism between the drivers. Nowadays we barely even have Lando and Oscar fans arguing. Both them and their fans are buddies  F1 wasn’t built on friendship! Time for one of these boys to introduce the other to Barry R.

Yeah... a number of things I feel. Imma just be in the back seat for a while observing if things turn around for 2026. The new cars could bring a boost in (and focus on) technical posts.

It seemed we hit a peak with certain events... like the engine packages when upgrades were allowed... and the era where we had more bodywork plus the HAM Vs VER periods. I never seen anything so dull as the ground effect x cost-cap era when we talk about upgrades. The cars are also large so daring overtakes don't happen much. And we haven't had a proper championship rivalry in this era too. Hope it gets better for 2026.

When nothing controversial happens then there's usually much less chatter in general.

Horrendously slow website loading most likely also had a big impact during races themselves as it was nigh on impossible to post something in a timely manner. This sould now be much improved if cloudflare protection will work as intended.

Many of the forums I frequent are seeing less traffic or are pretty much dead. People are moving to alternative chat mediums, Reddit, Discord etc.

It’s a shame as I much prefer this format.

In team threads mostly.
I used to follow up very closely f1 for years up until mid 2022. These days if I'm about to miss a race it doesn't matter. I even don't bother avoiding spoilers and I'm not rewatching whole race. Only highlights of some races are enough.

I just doesn't get a vibe anymore, hype is very low atm.

Or a lot of the ‘free speech’ has gone so be ones pointless posting when you can’t have a conversation of more than 2-3 replies between each other.

yeah, while forums struggle in general, I think this is the main issue here. Many times this season the site was dead slow or not working at all, so people head elsewhere and never return.

There has also been far less to post about in the Technical threads, which drives a lot of engagement. This set of rules just doesn't really allow much to be discussed, a lot of teams secrets are hidden in the floor, or in suspension components.

I also think that the lack of any kind of fight or activity in race this year generally has led to quite a bit of downturn. Without sounding utterly disrespectful to McLaren, their drivers are not good enough to sustain a good fight and Papaya Rules takes away essentially any possible fun that fans other than McLaren might have. Also this year has mostly had races that were dead. I guess it is generally just lack of action and impossibility of passing at the front with the cars all converging, making this year except for McLaren a qualifying championship.

This and the reasons mentioned above. Also, Lewis, Charles etc are not at the front fighting for anything. That also sucks from a purely entertainment POV.
Call a spade, a spade.

It's already early Wednesday morning in Europe, and even the Singapore race-thread hasn't been started. Everybody really seem to have tuned out.
Hopefully Ver wins combined with double papaya DNFs to spice up the WDC ... just so to get things alive again.

Even AMUS has not placed the session start times on their f1 site yet, seems they are tuning out as well...
