Interesting video about the Williams wind tunnel at Grove.
I didn't realise that their tunnel has the ability to run full sized models! Don't know how I missed that.
Obviously the model size is restricted by regulations now.
Vowles knows there isn't a hope in hell in signing MAX, he has recent experience on how hard it was to get Sainz. Literally no team Sainz was interested in had place for him. Why should he make his life harder by insulting his drivers? You think you're the only person that knows Max is better than Albon? It's not a secret.Jurgen von Diaz wrote: ↑19 Apr 2025, 17:45Vowles knows he hasn't afford the best designer and driver, so he tells he doesn't "want" them because he already have "the best drivers" and even says it's not about the money. Yeah right. Typical inferiority complex.JPower wrote:You do realize he's doing that to motivate the drivers and advertise the team's resurgence right? A guy who thinks he has the best drivers and would not pick Newey (as if Newey would ever even consider Williams) qualifies as much as Ralf Schumacher's opinion.
As for Newey, you just said he wouldn't want to go to WIlliams proving the point. Wouldn't be a good fit.
Again, I trust Vowles opinion after 20 years with the team in various iterations over almost anyone else.
Did Sainz even get to use DRS in the race in Baku? Most of the time he was running on his own, so I don't think it can explain the pace, no.ispano6 wrote: ↑04 Oct 2025, 17:15Looks like Williams got caught running an illegal rear wing. Both cars set to be dsq. Maybe this explains Williams pace in Baku. If so, a blemish on James Vowles record.

I don’t think he chose to leave Ferrari!!
He must have signed for Ferrari first. I remember he got quite the send off by McLaren, including a video asking Ferrari to take good care of him.WardenOfTheNorth wrote: ↑09 Oct 2025, 12:57I don’t think he chose to leave Ferrari!!
Did Carlos sign for Ferrari before McLaren signed Riccardo? Or was he pushed out to make way? Honest question as I can’t find a definitive answer anywhere.
From what I remember, Sainz said he had a hard time turning down a call from Ferrari, despite McLaren's progress up to the beginning of the 2020 season. Sainz was announced in March of 2020 with Ricciardo announced a few months later.Waz wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025, 15:07He must have signed for Ferrari first. He had also beaten Norris fairly convincingly over both seasons, so it would have been awkward to not renew him.
Stranger things have happened at McLaren though.
