Fully agreed, this was a stupid high risk move for a potential swing of 1 point. It was not malicious (stupid but racing incident) but this is the way you lose championships.

Piastri is lucky that he crashed into Norris and not just DNF himself with Hulk.

Piastri seems to be struggling with the expectations of delivering championship level races. This is not too unexpected as he wasn't really convincing most of 2024. Lando as usual has his good and bad races.

I still think WDC is in the bag but if they lose it to Max I hope they remember stupid focus on each other that they started so early.

Now that Im rewatching the start. Norris has a very slow start and Piastri is half a car in front before the turn. Norris overshoots the turn and sends both of them almost out of bounds. Piastri has no choice but to do a switcharoo otherwise both he and Norris who overshoot the turn risk of losing many places. Piastri looked like to have enough space to that turn as Hulkenberg was nowhere near Piastri. Alonso seemed to be the catalyst that sent Hulkenberg into Piastri otherwise it would have been a clean move.

Is it so hard to just accept that Piastri made a bad move? He won’t be blamed for taking Norris out accidentally, but he made a very risky cutback and invited that chaos.

Ridiculous cutback from Oscar, like it was just him and Lando on the track. What on earth was he thinking.

This is getting out of hand, team orders needed or we are losing this fight

He had 17 cars behind him, turning into them was never going to be a clean move.

What team orders would have stopped this incident?

no racing into turn one, protect each other then race, even though yes, this thing can happen no matter what.

Norris was on the dirty side, it is to be expected to be slow from P2 ... if NOR or PIA want to beat MAX they need to win pole in 2 hours from now.

Luckily it was a sprint race. We need good qualifying and a good Sunday. Let's stay positive.

In reality, it was hard for Oscar to get tge corner from Lando as he was inside, so just getting through would be a sensible thing.

From what we have seen in the past, T1 is your only chance to overtake. So this won't compute for any Mclaren driver. It's all building up into a rather natural conflagration. Piastri won't be reprimanded today, because Zak Brown blames the "amateurs" in the other cars.
It doesn't turn.

Bit it's a 1 point difference.

I am sure Piastri understands it was a stupid and risky move.

I don't know what they are going to do but these kind of incidents must stop. If that keeps happening Max will get a cheap title courtesy of Mclaren giving it to him and we are gonna have all the press saying how he did what even Senna couldn't.
