Solid drive from Fernando. The car seemed pretty understeery.

Car has been set up for the race as wing levels are up and top speed is lower this time around compared to the sprint. Think a solid p8 is the best as the the cars ahead won't be fast enough over a race distance. As usual Stroll is Useless however stroll ran the current race setup for the entire weekend so lets see.
Halo not as bad as we thought

Alonso reported "no power" on the inlap after Q3 yesterday. Has there been any update about this?

FOM didn't show Fernando's time on screen even once all Q3, let alone car on screen. Absolutely crazy, have to check live timing any lap.
And it's so race after race. It's incredible. I ended up watching an online timer instead of the tv broadcast. Horrible.

More was on the table yesterday, a bit of shame the sectors didn't come together Image

I saw Alonso's post qualifying interview just now, he explained that on the last run he had to push on the outlap as they thought they wouldn't have time to get around, although he got there with 18 seconds to spare but had no tyres for the lap. Guess that explains it then, could have been P5-P6 if the outlap was normal.

yeah, not ideal. He even passed Antonelli into turn 1 out of the pits (who made it by 2s in the end).

But although 18s sounds like a lot, it actually was pretty close indeed. Leclerc on a fast lap was only 5s behind at the line, so going slower would instantly have resulted in having to make room for him as well, losing another couple of seconds.

Better to have a race where we hopefully move forwards if we don’t get taken out. I hope the race pace is good

I said it earlier at the time, but I knew Alonso was in trouble as they sent him out at the back of the queue (before Verstappen who did not make it in time). The outlap was indeed compromised.

One point. He did what he could. The car was slower than the Sauber and the Haas. He hadn't no new softs either, so he had to manage tyres all the 2nd stint. A little luck, for once, with Sainz and Kimi getting out of the points... Otherwise, he would have finished 12th.

Brazil and Qatar should be better tracks for Aston Martin. Only have to suffer through Mexico, Las Vegas, and Abu Dhabi.

Season will be over soon enough.

A race to forget. Bearman's poor start did not help Alonso any off turn 1.
