Not a good race for us in Austin in many different aspects… sure the Sprint was positive but the main race was bad in almost every aspects!

Let’s hope the team can wake up and regroup for Mexico! We used the only joker we had and Ferrari is getting very close in the Constructor Championship for second place 😰
Wouldn't be the worst thing to come third, more development resources next year...

( Q "More competitive in the sprint than in the actual race?"

James 🗣️: "I think probably the more realistic thing for assessing the competitiveness is at that track(COTA) with the surface overheating that comes on the tyres at that track you sort of go at the pace of the person in front of you"

"In the sprint race, we had Verstappen in front of us and you could see George was able to keep up with Verstappen there and have a decent run of things, but in the main race we got away off the line OK, but didn't come out of the first corner well and then we're stuck behind Piastri, who was having a tough weekend and we're sort of stuck at Piastri's pace then. So the competitiveness is very much linked by who you're following rather than your car in free air )

(🚨Toto 🗣️: "If George had been in front after the start, he would have won the race. The six drivers at the front all had almost the same pace."

"If you closed the gap to less than two seconds, the cars would just start sliding, and the tyre temperature would rise."

- The fact that Russell finished 33 seconds behind race winner Max Verstappen gives a misleading impression. Verstappen was able to run his own pace in clean air without overworking his tyres, while everyone else was stuck in turbulence.

He should try lying better lmfao. Russell couldn't get a Piastri who was miles off Norris but sure everyone had equal pace.

Russel, Allison, Toto...

What are they trying to say ? That overtaking is not possible in COTA ? That they need a >1s delta in race pace to mount a DRS attack from T11 into T12 ?
What is all this moaning about not getting a leapfrog in places at turn 1, because Norris kept the inside line and didn't wash to the outside ?
Do they think we don't know that cars run a lower ride height in the sprint w.r.t the ride height for the race ?

Where were these complaints about 'it's all a qualifying contest' , 'tyres don't deg enough' , 'its always a one stop race' etc etc when Russel qualified P1 and won lights to flag in Canada and Singapore ?
All teams face the same conditions. Get on with it, stop crying sour grapes.

He's talking about the tyre temps which in all accounts, a lot of drivers were struggling with the same issue this race including the leader. I guess the main reason why the Leclerc was so competitive was because of staying in front of Lando for most of the time and Max driving off. Max wasn't all that affected because of the massive benefit of clean air. Shows a fatal flaw in these regs.

Having a step softer tyre on this tarmac was a bad idea on circuit this bumpy and abrasive with track temps up to + 40c. They should've used the same sets from Bahrain C1,C2,C3 that why everyone is not locked to only 2 sets. None of the teams considered the hard tyre because it wasn't firing up that well.. maybe because the cars weren't setup for that.

He actually has a point, you can't push if the tyres won't let you. That's the most frustrating thing a driver can have, and honestly I think a lot of teams and drivers would've been extremely happy if the C2 was an option as the Medium and the C3 as the Soft.

Basically. And Kimi was down because of the Sainz incident but even his pace was good.

So the problem was the tyre temps, not really tyre deg.

I honestly think, as a team, we must stop to find excuses… last year we finished 4th in the championship and it didn’t help one bit. Our car is similar as last year but with less wins & podiums (I am pretty sure ).

However will it help more next year due to the rule change great question

slower than the Haas, and gifted two points to Piastri with that team order (+ bad stop). Not ideal indeed.
