Great to see Kimi doing well. Hope he continues this performance throughout the rest of the weekend. Bravo kid!

If it rains tomorrow, watch out for Kimi Antonelli.

As I said before, Mercedes stopped being slow in Baku.

How? With these ground effect cars? Very unlikely!

Maybe next year where overtaking should be easier.

Can someone explain why Mercedes is actually good around Interlagos? I thought they would be comfortably behind Red Bull but clearly Red Bull are not there.

If the FIA did a standing restart it might have been more interesting. Why did they do rolling again?

It is cold.

Rolling start was an odd choice given there was no rain since a standing start.

It's not interlagos. Get used to this. I've been saying it since Baku. Mercedes is also on schedule to fight at the front in Las Vegas and Qatar.

Las Vegas - I would be surprised if they are not dominant. In Qatar there are real high speed corners. I think cold is a better explanation.

Edit: If Qatar is also cold, they would be very good there of course.

Edit2: Also you cannot tell me that Mercedes had pace at Austin, regardless of whatever PR Russell did after the race.

This car (and the 2024 car also to an extent) is like an anti SF24. They're maybe overheating tires by default, so they need ambient temps to be a little cool to balance it out. In any case, I expect Mercedes to be stronger today & tomorrow just due to conditions. They could get a win here.

But honestly, Pirelli tires have been pure voodoo for a while now, but this year in particular, they just make no sense. I literally hate these tires because they ruin the sport. The only way to consistently win is If you somehow manage to understand what the heck is going on with these tires and figure out how to put them in the optimal window. They're just all over the place. What makes sense in one race, is thrown out of the window in the next one.

There’s something within the car’s core design philosophy, that for some reason, puts a lot of energy into the tyres on certain types of corner profiles, less so than the last year’s car at least. Is it inconsistent contact patch with the rears wrt to the asphalt due to df issues in yaw? Not enough air cooling management in the cake tins? Could it be related to suspension stiffness? Only Mercedes knows what the issues are (I hope they do. For their sake)

I literally had this exact complaint for the past 5 races
