Alonso said on French TV no real surprise, the car doesn’t like very much the soft once again.

But still optimistic with p11
He’s in a position to capitalize on any incidents provided nobody crashes into him and he isn’t told to lift and coast the whole race. Let’s see what the weather does too.

I think they had to raise it for plank wear. Only logical explanation.
if the race pace is better than the sprint then we will know that but I don’t think it’s that. Both drivers would have to lift and coast if it was the floor plank wear

1.9.300 yesterday from Alonso would have been pole today.
Maybe AM should just leave the setup they arrive in for the rest of the weekend because they just keep --- the car up trough weekends....
ALO in the post sprint qualy interview, said the car felt good in the only practice so they did not want to change the set-up.

After all without enough practices, every further change will be a gamble...

Thinking about it some more I don’t think the floor would wear enough in a sprint to make the team ask one driver to lift and coast. It just doesn’t make sense.

well, just look at the times, and you see he didn't. Losing significant time in general (Q3 lap time was much slower than Q2) may very well be to the car and conditions, of course, but losing that much time to Stroll as well simply means that he didn't maximize his potential. First row was up for grabs yesterday.
You guys just love to bring the age related nonsense back into things. It’s always Alonso but when other drivers do the same it’s the car. Give it a rest
It's an old story ? :)
Here’s a new story -> Max Verstappen outqaulified by Lance Stroll 2 years in a row in Brazil. Somehow I doubt people will be calling for his retirement like they are for Alonso for still outqaulifying Lance for 2 years and counting.

Oh so now it’s suddenly the cars fault again now it’s a different driver. How convenient

Anyway, this circuit is "weird". Listening to the drivers' radios made that clear to me. And watching VER confirmed it even more. It seems like an unpredictable circuit.
Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.

If a F1 driver says that enough times he finds himself in Formula-E, Nascar or fill in the blank. It just means the track beat the team and that your car has weaknesses others don't. No secret RBR has problems in low speed sections but is the best in lower DF configurations. Often they can make up for a weakness with it's strengths but not everywhere. Definitely not Brazil. You can also see their weaknesses in tge number of points they are behind McLaren.

The strategy guide says Alonso has 1 set of new Softs and 1 set of New mediums...so maybe a soft/med or soft/med/med strategy ? Nobody else who qualified ahead of of Alonso has a set of new softs... Strategy guide has been wrong before.
