Reminds me of the floor they bolted on in 2022 on the final day of testing in Bahrain. They couldn't contain their smiles then. Hopefully they can smile now.organic wrote: ↑24 Oct 2025, 18:24Floor upgrades earlier than I had hoped, but sounds like an optimization/modification job.
Also sounds like the engine cover upgrade is a modification job of the new spec, wider engine cover introduced at Singapore, but isn't just specific to Mexico like many teams' engine cover will be. It'll be useable at any other hot races (Qatar, Abu dhabi for instance)

Technical team deserves so much.
Don't count your chickens before they hatch... FP2 will tell us, possibly it will take until end of FP3 to form a verdict.
Reading the published datasheet of the changes, looks like A LOT for the (N-4)th race of the last year of a regulation. This is the engineering team in full-on attack mode (probably planned 4-5 months ago). However, I won't get excited just yet, will wait until end of FP3. The team has a not-very-old history of 'upgrades' ending up as 'updates' , hopefully not this time.

My surprise is that they are going ultra-aggressive with the shape of the floor tunnel ('lowered uoper floor surface') - unsure whether it is fore or aft of the venturi neck, apart from a 'sidepod revision' that is mentioned as well. I rather expected some edge wing changes only, to clean-up/modify the edge vortices. This is like a 'main' change. Hence my comment.
i agree with car being a diva, but not all hope is lost yet as he has fresh new PU components and next track with cooler temps will be more of a Redbull Max territory, last two races though will be a hard one to judge still as McLarens on theory should be fast there, but for Max to win the title he needs to maximize and win all three and hope for the best, Next weekend is crucial as Mercedes and Ferrari do better in cold temps, so if they are in the Mix it will be clear of how things are going to be for the fight.Vettel165 wrote: ↑10 Nov 2025, 10:09Nah realistic Mclaren was just too fast on this kind of high downforce circuits, Mexico we had no chance for p1 also with the right setup. Look at Hungary and Zantvoort. Red Bull is a car that is fantastic in high-speed corners when using the low-drag setup/ wings like in Monza and also very quick on the straights. The car is clearly lacking rear traction to fight for the wins on high downforce tracks. We had no chance, Lando without 2 DNF would be more than 80 points ahead, Max did his job and extracted most of the season. He did a fantastic job, but the middle of the season was pretty much poor, the car was just slow. To even have a small shot is a achievement itself. Just enjoy the last races, living in the past what if will never be a good thing in life. The car was just a diva, not consistent on most circuits. Mclaren as a car was just better.
In hindsight everything is possible. Your guess was as good as anyone's. Red Bull did run the floor to compare, just on the wrong guy. That is just operational error. You can't hope to snatch away a WDC with such errors.venkyhere wrote: ↑10 Nov 2025, 09:37venkyhere wrote: ↑24 Oct 2025, 19:06

How I wish that the foreboding that I had on the Mexico Thursday never came true... had they continued with the Monza floor (which would have allowed an easier base-setup in each FP1), what could have been a 15 (7+1+7) point gain on Norris, ended up being a 23 (10+3+10) point loss to him. That's a swing of 38 points. WDC would have been a realistic possibility for Max. Imagine going into the last three weekends with Norris having only a 11 point advantage over Max.... it would have been like 2021.
Whoever made this chart.... how desperate are they ? getting emotionally attached like this is unhealthy, imho.Vettel165 wrote: ↑10 Nov 2025, 18:180.0001% chance, but if this happens I would be the happiest man alive…
