is it possible for newy to design a f1 car in 9 month as he started the position in 2025 March? I hope others may be started earlier than AMR. I am still thinking that they may be struggle in the first year... improve in 2nd year with some podiums and 3rd year is the year they may be contender for WCC and WDC...

During the first two months, the team only covered the basics of design so that Newey was left with full creative freedom when he arrived in March.

It made zero sense to bring upgrades to this car. The base concept was clearly not good.
Priority is to fix the technical area of the team (which is what Newey is doing) and get the basics of the 2026 regulations right.
I think Stroll made a huge mistake when they replaced key figures with Fallows and others. It wasn't him that made the 2023 AM, right? That car was working extremely well, especially in race trim.

The previous set of new regs, the first year, it was close with Ferrari but RBR just kept getting better. Then the years that followed... I don't know if it was luck or what but he kept inovating the design direction that eventually everyone would follow. They never had to course correct until after he left RBR. That's the way I remember it.

I think Brazil was the last place for some good results. That's it for this season I guess. With Hass going good and Qatar being a good track for Sauber, we just need to hope for luck or else we ending up in 9th for sure in the constructors.
Halo not as bad as we thought

I'm still trying to figure where Alonso's 1:09.3 in SQ2 went. It must have been 1 of the fastest laps of the weekend but the pace went nowhere Sunday.

Probably running lower on Friday, so the car actually worked...

With 3 races left and being almost last in the standing and nothing to lose, better run lower and risk disqualification then suffer.

Entirely possible, but we've absolutely no idea of the status in existence at AN arrival, the inheritance of just what skills sets in which competency may be very well "hidden" :D

Change can take time, some wrong routes could be included, establishing just who offers what within an organisation is fraught with opinion and obfuscation.

A big step change, that on top of the regulations changing so fundamentally, can bring any number of outcome. A loose bet woukd be a product, in taking a adventurous step, can arrive with "esoteric" quality that effectively exist in "proof" of concept along with very marginal reliability in delivering those criteria.
It serves as advanced R&D in other words. All result at that stage bring a bonus if they are banked in points etc. The huge value comes in where the next step takes it too, even if the gains aren't realised next year.

This is why he is sleeping in the office. Did not waste time on current car and focus on 2026. They said he asked to furnish is office with all the requirements so he can work overnights.

Just watched Newey's video. Despite being a sponsored video you can already pinpoint 2 key points immediately:
- His holistic vision behind a F1 car --> He is the only one in F1 that has this overall knowledge about a F1 car
- The importance of drivers feedback which goes back to his early days when he was also a race engineer

Even when he sleeps in the office he dreams of driving the Valhalla!
