Qatar has a surprisingly high percentage of the lap at full throttle. It's greater than Las Vegas (according to this chart?). PU could be a factor? If the Mclarens have only used 4 PUs, then the their freshest PU has done 4 GPs already if it was evenly distributed. Verstappen meanwhile has the one from Brazil which only did the Brazil Race + Saturday/Sunday in very cool conditions in Las Vegas.

It could be. I'm fairly sure "Mode" is what determines the net deployment across a lap. "Strat" may determine where on the lap you deploy.

'where on the lap' => GPS co-ordinates are woven into the control unit that sends voltage/current to the MGU-K ?
Then what about the 'overtake' button that they press ? what does it do, if it's not a manual 'where on the lap to deploy' ?

Yelistener believes GPS to locate a car's position is forbidden for purposes of mgu-k deployment strategies:

The deployment is programmed using throttle traces telemetry. GPS would require pit to car signal which is disallowed.

A good example of this was in 2015 or 16. Alonso at McHonda used full throttle through a bend at Spa which meant the ERS didn't deploy afterwards because it was programmed to recognize a lift.

I guess a "by distance" chart would look more like you'd expect.

Long straights like in Vegas are completed quickly and the cars spend more time in the slow corners.

I guess a "by distance" chart would look more like you'd expect.

They may not be the most disciplined, may have infights, revolving door at HR, etc etc.. but this is the only 'truly maverick' team on the paddock, who can't resist making a joke, even if it risks looking stupid at the end. For decades together that's how they've been. I wonder whether they will retain the same 'character' once they transform from a chassis team to a 'factory team'.

More like second driver don't compare yourself with Max and end up in a spiral. Hadjar seems fast maybe he will give Max a run for his money

Looks like Zandvoort, Singapore,and other higher downforce specs.

Well the drivers are for me a seperate discussion.

What doesn't sit well with me are the two 13 second pit stops in Austin and Mexico, some questionable Q1 tactics, strange 2nd tier race strategies and of course the Las Vegas tyre pressure mistake. It doesn't matter who you put in that car, it won't score points over the course of a season and it'll break whichever drivers' rythm and confidence. It's backmarker quality from Red Bull and it's unacceptable.

Looks like Zandvoort,Singapore,and other higher downforce specs.

Yeah that wing hasn't worked out well. However it's a different type of track, so hopefully car works.

This I can get behind, to a certain extent. Also Yuki did have the fastest pitstop at Vegas but they had other ---. That said, to be taken seriously though, the second driver has to show some promise. Hadjar has to stay close to Max or beat him at the start to be taken seriously.

I don't expect Max to just go all out and be fast. It will be like 2022, will take him a few races to figure it out as it's a new car and new ways of handling. So Hadjar might be interesting to watch early on. But I doubt he will keep up.

If Yuki was actually quick, many issues would not have been. It's also due to the setup hand holding and not being able to share any data with Max, unlike at Mclaren. Red Bull is not a midfield team (yet ) and the strategist as we know them succeed when fighting for top 5 positions, not P12 or P14 on a regular basis. Perhaps they are more exposed there, but that is not Red Bull's normal place. It's not to say they cannot improve, but they shouldn't be developing tools and strategy to run with other midfielders. As we know with Alonso and AMR, it's very difficult and requires a lot of luck when you are racing there.
