This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
are you sure ? he did two runs in q3. first one before the red flag in q3 was was a 20:552, second one 1:20.418. Would be weird to have such a small delta on this track w fresh tires.
that's what the livetiming said, at least, yeah. He had four new sets, and used two in each of Q1 and Q2. Q3 he did on the Q2 tires again, three lap old
I’m not confident for points in race given the last races but let’s see, maybe 1
I also think finishing 10th will be a success. Especially since SAI has taken 7th, relegating ALO to 8th and therefore to the dirty side of the track. Unless he pulls off some magic at the start or something happens in the first few corners. It's a difficult circuit for overtaking, and the car is slow compared to almost everyone else.
But the start of the Newey era has been good: at least things seem to have changed. Confirmation would come from a brilliant race strategy and some solid pit stops. I'd be happy with that... for now, until 2026.

"After qualifying eighth, Alonso shared his thoughts with AS on Newey's contributions in the garage, on the pit wall, and at every engineering meeting: “It's very interesting because he's very active. He came to other races more to observe how things were, not as a key player. He tried to listen and get a general overview of the team. But now he's very involved; the meetings with him are longer. When we finish, he always asks two or three questions to two or three specific people, sometimes even to the drivers.”
“I think he's going to help us improve, because everything he says makes a lot of sense, and he also has a performance perspective. Often the briefings are long; we discuss all the sensations of the car, but there are no conclusions about how to make the car faster. He has those conclusions in his head and analyzes them, so I think he'll help us grow,” Fernando told this publication".
Finally, it seems the team is heading in the right direction. It's also clear that Newey and Fernando have mutual admiration. This is excellent.

Aston Martin Qatar GP:
The team brings back the "discarded" longer sidepods and floor from Silverstone.
How often have they been used since Silverstone?
In sprint race or Race race? Never. It was only seen in Free Practice since. Even then after they ran it in a few FPs and really nailed down what it was good for, it stopped even showing up in FP as well. It is better in those turns 11 to 15 that are all taken above 250kph. Alonso in qualifying trim sticks to 7th gear through all of that.

For what it's worth F1 have them down as the 4th fastest race pace. IF that is true 8th maybe 7th is possible.
They have 2 sets of new Mediums and 1 set of Hards new.
