Blame the team all you want but there is no good excuse why Lando isn't standing on the podium today. Oscar beat Sainz and Antonelli by a mile even with the sub-optimal strategy. Lando finished behind a Williams in a car that was probably 7+ tenths a lap faster. He would have finished P5 without a bit of luck too. He didn't have good pace.
He was told his carcass was overheating and had to manage it. I think. I guess you can't risk it going.

Piastri will sit out FP1 in Abu Dhabi for a rookie.
Is that more anti Oscar stuff?

No, every driver needs to do this during the season. Oscar still hasn’t

McLaren strategies were too conservative and too risk averse for last two three years. They left plenty of points on the table because they tend to do the minimum.

I'm sure they are aware of that in McLaren as Will Courtenay was hired over a year ago but unfortunately he is still under contract at Red Bull. Last news I saw is that he will start next year. Can't wait.

Let's hope McLaren switched development early in 2025 and we have good pace in 2026.

It’s 2007 all over again. Back then a strategy error in China screwed Hamilton..and Kimi won the WDC.
Could very well be something similar here.

And off-topic but related to McLaren, I want to highlight once again the low character of Lambiase, proven by the way he informed Max about how Antonelli supposedly moved out of Lando’s way. And then we wonder why there is so much hate between F1 fans, and why fights in the stands are becoming more and more frequent.
I hope Mercedes takes a stand and condemns such behavior that has nothing to do with reality! Shame on Red Bull! Shame on you, Mr. Lambiase!
Marko. Horner. Lambiase. Verstappen.

They’ve all said and done some pretty deplorable things at times. It’s seemingly mandatory at RB.

For Marko to also publicly say that Kimi waved Norris by is disgusting. That senile old man’s opinion means less than nothing but unfortunately, giving him a platform stirs up the hornet’s nest of brainless morons to then go attack a teenager (Kimi) on social media.

Seeing McLaren fumble this away to that lot at RBR is a shame. I feel for McLaren fans.

Am I the only one who finds this performance difference between Norris and Piastri depending on the race very strange? It's a huge difference. I get the feeling they have ONE fast car/chassis and Norris and Piastri alternate driving it (obviously I know that's not the case, but that's how it seems to me). :-k

"Ah, but Piastri always does poorly in previous races, and it's been like that in previous years." Okay, but why does Norris do so badly most of the time when Piastri does well and vice versa? Like, how can the guy who put 20 seconds into second place in previous races be ~4/7 seconds slower than his teammate in just a few laps?! It doesn't make sense to me... :-k

No, plenty of time. VER was 2 seconds behind.

Fitting tell me something. When the Safety Car was announced did our drivers had enough time to pit or did it get them by surprise?

There was no surprise.

Only good reason not to pit is to protect La do from getting stuck in a double stack fest.

It wasn't as if the Mclarens were that much faster in race pace, maybe Piastri by 3 tenths and Norris by 1/2 tenth or so. I think the team expected this to be 6-7 tenths.

Are they insane? Red Bull is probably the fastest car overall since Monza.
Here McLaren had an advantage but nothing like 1s or something like that.
