Just par for the course now in literally ANY sport. As soon as you have fans, you're going to have bad eggs ruining things for everyone else.

Sadly. He for sure didn’t do it on purpose.
He just overdrove the car frantically trying to stay ahead.
Rookie mistake but he’ll learn from it.
All together he’s driving a solid first season.

Death threats aren't par for the course. Abuse might be...but death threats are police actionable crimes.

I've heard far too many stories of fans sending death threats across almost every sport I watch. Even e-sport

One of those bad eggs was sat on the Red Bull pit wall. I don't think the radio call suggesting Kimi just let Lando past was professional or called for. It was obvious to anyone watching that Kimi made a mistake.

Yeah I really didn't like that from GP.

This was far worse though. Once again Red Bull proving the most toxic team on the grid.

Careful, I got a ban for less.

Anyway...
Mercedes taking it up with the FIA. The comments and accounts responsible for the comments have been passed on to the FIA.

Marko said: "it was twice where he more or less waved Lando by. It was so obvious, Antonelli now helps our main competitor, in Austria he was crashing [Verstappen] in the rear."

Funny thing of course is that Russel said that the day before he tried to give Lando a tow during qualy to win the world championship, during a heated debate in front of the cameras. So it is not completely out of the blue that Merc. could be trying to help Lando. That said, it was an obvious mistake by Kimi and he should not receive threats. But Max has had them, Lewis had them, Latifi, Masi. Just idiot people online who do that.

F1 director shouldn't have broadcast that message from GP to Verstappen. That is just fueling the fire. I know they want controversy but it's not the way to go about it.

I can see that Red Bull had to issue an apology. Good from them, good from Mekies. I don't think Horner would have apologized.

Marko meanwhile back-paddled in German press as well

“I’ve had another close look at the footage. The first time, Antonelli could have put up a bit more of a fight [against Piastri]. But the second incident was a driving error and not intentional. I’m sorry that Antonelli got so much flak online. To make it clear once again: He didn’t let Norris through on purpose.”

I agree with observation about the "casual" but clearly edited in pushing to broadcast live, the sensitivity of this in light of the great wide Internet views. Not a good situation to even unintentionally foment that element by the broadcast team editors.

It does show though, that what would have been something in the way of journalistic interest in the past, can be so ridiculously inflamed by unrestrained input from those that just have no responsibility, or reasonable traceability.

To which end, the highlighted bit above ... aren't you falling into the same trap of irresponsibility ? He doesn't currently have anything to do with F1, made no comment or contribution, but you feel comfortable to proffer that view.

Are you happy to represent yourself in such a fictitious way on public forum ?

GP making a mistake in the heat of the moment is understandable, and IMO forgivable, and he's since explained the situation to Toto, who has said there is "no issue".

GP's comment was "not sure what happened to Antonelli, Max, it looks like he just pulled over and let Norris through".

I actually don't blame the TV direction, which is usually awful, too much for this, bad luck on the timing. They stuck with the Sainz, Kimi, Lando fight the whole time but right at the moment that Kimi had his moment they were zoomed in just on Lando's car, and went back to a wider shot showing multiple cars right as Lando passed Kimi. So from GP's perspective (who probably just had the feed available to him and not watching Kimi's onboard, as he has more important things to worry about) all he could see is Lando suddenly pass Kimi in a place where overtakes don't usually occur. He qualified his comment ("not sure what happened") as he described to Max what occurred ("it looks like he just pulled over and let Norris through"), that's his job.

. . . and then the race was ending and they showed Max crossing the line for the win and then the cool down lap celebrations instead of a replay of what happened to Kimi.

Not sure what you want him to say, or what was unprofessional. He made it very clear he didn't see what happened, thus he's not certain, and described what it looked like (Lando easily passing him in a spot where you don't normally overtake looks exactly like a driver that was let through). I guess he could have then speculated that maybe Kimi "had a moment" but that would be pure speculation on his part, and again, his driver is about to win the race and Hadjar was limping around the track at that time as well, so I can understand why his comments didn't veer off into pure speculation at that time.
