Indeed but Red Bull is poor in qualy in the last races. They improved in tyre wear and general race pace. Just start around P3 or P2 and we have a shot. Mclaren will dominate the qualy.

Marko said that the car was understeery all day. They made adjustment after FP1, but it didn't help. During the long run it got worse.

From the data, Norris was in lower engine mode than Max in FP2, and still faster by 4 tenths in Q and around 5-6 tenths in R simulations. RB21 also showing much bigger 'deg' than the McL39. In the real Q and R, I think this gap is going to be 5 tenths and 8-9 tenths, respectively. The difference in the off camber corners of Sector3 is almost comical. I think this is too much a gap for Redbull to bridge. I can't see beyond a pole to flags victory for Norris this weekend. The advantage over the 'next best' car on this track, is even bigger than it was in 2024. Norris will win his 1st WDC with a cool P1 with some 30s margin over P2.
Piastri looks lost.

I think the long run pace is skewed.
Max started his with 6 laps older mediums and ran much longer.
Tyres fell off in the last 3-4 laps but the Mclaren never got close to that point with a much shorter run.

We need safery cars in the race to have a chance at the title. Maybe they should setup all the Racing Bulls and Tsunoda's car in a funny way.

My opinion is different I think in Q3 Mclaren will be at least 0,2s ahead of Max, but in terms of race pace we might be equal to them. I am speculating they will find a good setup tomorrow. Never lift, never stop believing.

older than who? Verstappen's M was 8 laps old at the start of the long run, Norris' 9.

Not looking good. Race sims were atrocious, a second off after 10 laps. Quali will be equally hard, S3 loses are just too much.

Max started on medium (8), Lando medium (9). Deg was similar for same tire age, but Red bull got substantially worse as the stint went on, MCL won't suffer such deg.

guys all the talks about pace, setup, deg, etc are relatively pointless, Max can even win the race but if Lando is not out of the podium it's all useless, and as it stands Lando won't be out of the podium in normal circumstances

for Max the important thing is to be in the top3, then the title is possible only if something happens to Lando

Bingo. After the tyre turned 15 laps old, it fell off a cliff. But this was a tyre that did a few 'quali like' fast runs on low fuel. So probably the 'cliff point' in pure race trim is around 20 laps or so. This is exactly why they did the 3rd stop in Brazil. RB21 hasn't sorted out tyre deg when the lap has many loaded medium/high speed corners. I hope they have enough data from the H run in FP1.

This! I have the impression that people don't realize that Max has no chance in a normal race. Many people treat this race as this would be some kind of "winner takes it all" shootout.
The wdc is in Lando's hand and he needs to flop to even have a discussion.
Then and only if that happens, Max just needs to make sure to be on the podium and ahead of Piastri.
