It's not in Red Bull's hand anymore. Something has to happen to Norris, driver error, disqualification, team error, technical error, or really bad luck. Because by pure pace I don't see anyone but Max beating him at most.

I think people see it as Winner takes it all because Max has to win. While McLaren have been strong, they've also been strong the all of the weekends since Monza bar Vegas.

It needs a 12+ point swing in the end. Max has to win. Nothing else will give him this point swing. But if he has the pace to win, it's likely that others also come into play, which is what McLaren don't want. I'd be surprised if Mercedes and Ferrari are as far as they appear now by the time the race starts.

If Red Bull can't anyways win, it's curtains as the odds drop even more fast.

I think Lando is at least P2 in a normal race. Even with Safety Cars and other things, he can finish in reasonable point scoring positions in which case Max winning is what would be needed. Assuming Max is P2 or P3 gives Lando a lot more leeway is my point. That means Lando has to be P8 or higher, which is entirely possible even if things go wrong in Lando's race. Which is also why I think regardless of what happens to Lando, Max has to win. If he can't win, the odds just drop so much faster.

All those comments aside, in the end it's not is Verstappen/Red Bull's hands. It's been a surprisingly good end to the year. Just hope for something good to happen to close out the year.

But everyone remember, this race is more pressure than any driver can feel ever in his entire career, and it is even greater if you have not won the title. It never gets bigger than this, and it is one race only.

Max is walking in cool, calm, collected. Been here. Done this. I genuinely feel he is completely calm and feels little pressure. Whereas, Lando has EVERYTHING on his shoulders. The weight of Macca and its glorious history is pushing in on him full send...and he has never won a title. There is ZERO DOUBT no matter what he renders on camera, he is quivering and shaking like a madmad inside (because he genuinely cares and wants it so bad), and that often and likely leads to mistakes. Lando, imo, is not a shark. He is not a killer with a killer instinct ready to kill if need be to win, and shark mentality wins titles. It's all still to play. Nothing is done yet.

If max wins then norris need to finish 3rd to win WDC. If he's 4th he loses by 1 point.

No doubt he is nervous, but that's expected for any driver's first WDC. Even if he makes a mistake (missees the start, goes wide in some corner, outbrakes and flatspots his tyre etc) - it's the ideal track with wide runoffs, it's the ideal car with so much performance margin over others - finishing P3 will be a cakewalk for the McL39. The one and only issue/risk for him is crashing with another car (whomsoever's mistake it is).

You cant compare this pressure when someone fights for the WDC himself. Its just different.

I am listening to what Max said, everything is a bonus this year. Going very relaxed into this weekend with zero expectation, he has 4 of the same titles at home. Life goes on if it doesnt happen, the chance is for now quite low, as we need for Mclaren to make another mistake.

A strong sector 3 is only a good thing if you are doing qualifying or if you are leading with nobody with DRS behind.

In the race, S3 needs management and provides no overtaking opportunities. RBR is setting up the car to ivertake. MCL will have a hard time passing a Merc or Ferrari.

RBR know their only shot is if something happens, and they maximise the odds if something happens, they can still drive to P1, betting MCL will be stuck.

Even if there is no carnage, but just an unlucky situation, they set themselves up to overtake if they find themselves out of position.

Both Max and Piastri are both able to ovetake when needed and thus quickly mive up the field. Lando typically needs a few laps to set up his overtake.

There are realistically 2 ways ro win; T1 carnage or a safety car. They need to be able to capitalise.
