In my opinion, Carlos started the season almost too relaxed, perhaps because of his good times and feeling with the Williams in pre-season testing. He seemed clearly superior to Albon... until the races started... then everything changed: Albon drove like an angel, and Carlos had to push himself too hard. And he made mistakes, with the corresponding bit of bad luck added to the mix.

But in the second half of the season, Carlos resurfaced. I think that ability to overcome adversity runs in his family, but the fact is that he improved a lot. He regained his confidence, and now we are where we are thanks to that.

Carlos is like a powerful jackhammer with a built-in computer and an enormous amount of kindness and courtesy: "smooth operator".

I think that we are not seeing Sainz at full power yet. He can still improve his level. Unfortunately there is no more time left with this car.

Where do these ideas come from?
We see it through the field in every change in the hybrid aera...these cars are difficult and each engine is different to drive. He was just struggling like everyone else changing the team.

I still wonder what his issue or the issue with RedBull was. That would have been an amazing combination.

These ideas come from my own head, as I say at the beginning of the sentence: "In my opinion...".

During the preseason, SAI seemed to adapt perfectly to his new car from the start. His results overshadowed ALB's... until the races began. When reality set in, the tables turned, and ALB achieved better results. I think that's when SAI got worried and pushed himself too hard. Which, on the other hand, is normal. It wasn't until after August that SAI managed to recover and clearly improve his results. That's how I see it. This isn't a criticism of SAI at all; quite the opposite. Carlitos is a tenacious and intelligent guy.

I thought Carlos had a chance at Q3 today. Only missed by 0.008 seconds.

Overall, no matter what happens tomorrow, Williams had their best season in a decade. Hopefully their decision to focus solely on 2026 development from the beginning of the year pays off.

Of all the midfield teams, it seems that they have the best momentum, although I'm sure Aston will have something radical to take to the grid next year.

Great interview with James, and a bit of an inside look at Williams. Brilliant. Gosh I hope this team gets to the sharp end soon. [-o<
