It is rumored that for the 2026 regulations, one of the teams has found a way to actually get more downforce by raising! the ride-height to a specific level and pitching the car to a crticial angle. Counterintuitive right?
They say it is through a little known, but very deeply studied, flow phenomenon that can now happen with the active front wings for 2026, combined with mirror polished nano-channels under the centre of the car (hence Y-zero) and creating near total vacuum condutions in this space.
The effect of it is seen like a quantum ripple down the underside of the plank erasing any creation of a boundary layer (the phantom flow). The resulting flow is said to be so inviscid that surrounding floor vortices and outboard wake is strongly pulled in, andthe resulting downforce created is like none ever seen, or felt! before...
