Looking at it further I think these will be the inlets for the intake manifold the big pipe in the centre is intake for turbo .

The size of the MGU & battery...
Would you care to elaborate?Hoffman900 wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026, 12:13Those are most definitely throttle bodies.
As for the rest, I don’t think should be in a single seater formula series, but that’s just me. What a clunky mess.
Why would they obscure the area under right hand exhaust manifold?
What a bulky mess these new electrical components are.Maybe the engine is so much more compact it just looks bigger.
Maybe they're just creating a bit of mystery to guide attention.BassVirolla wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026, 12:31Why would they obscure the area under right hand exhaust manifold?
Typical to run single throttle bodies per plenum. Indy Car (have been mostly turbocharged through the decades) traditionally ran two throttle bodies, one was a fail safe in case the other hung.sucof wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026, 12:26Would you care to elaborate?Hoffman900 wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026, 12:13Those are most definitely throttle bodies.

Thanks, but this, to me, does not explain why you called it a mess.Hoffman900 wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026, 14:48Typical to run single throttle bodies per plenum. With modern turbo controls, ECU fueling and ignition, and drive by wire, the throttle bodies aren’t the only thing and sometimes rarely control load. Often they stay wide open to manage pumping losses while torque demand is controlled by everything else, like a diesel.
I think the rules are clunky and the place to exhibit technology is in endurance racing, not a single seater, sprint formula series.sucof wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026, 15:04Thanks, but this, to me, does not explain why you called it a mess.Hoffman900 wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026, 14:48Typical to run single throttle bodies per plenum. There we have it.
Releasing photos so soon. Is this part of the new engine agreement perhaps? Status of forces. Otherwise I have to assume this is only an earlier R&D unit.
