A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
A bit like the Racing Bulls, these sidepods remind me of 2012-era Mclaren-style coanda sidepods. I suppose it's all about diverting the airflow down over the sidepod toward the diffuser, in a similar way to the coanda doing that for exhaust gases, although it's a very different energy. I'm surprised that so far the odd one out seems to be the Red Bull render in terms of a tightly package - let's say, 2009-style - sidepod/coke bottle, as I thought that would be the way to go. Let's see if that becomes a trend with more of the bigger teams and/or if it was just a red herring from Red Bull.
Hope the others that follow are even better. Also pleased that the new front wings won't be hindering close racing as much as the old ones did.. not nearly as much.

This sidepod design seems like mitigation against the dirty wake from the front tires, which makes sense as the bargeboards of this formula are likely to be ineffective at creating outwash. To my untrained eye, the overall concept makes more sense to me than the redbull render.

I wouldn't be so sure about the outwashing floorboards. The intention of the rule set was to have them be inwashing but Red Bull's render has already worked around the rules to create outwash with floorboards.
They will not be as effective as the pre-2022 bargeboards but the may mitigate the need for long and wide sidepods somewhat.
This is the first Haas car that (at least at a glance) looks conceptually different than the Ferrari of the same or previous year, although I suppose Ferrari are supposed to bring major changes to what we saw yesterday before the first race. So maybe they will be more similar.
Giant (comparatively) sidepods combined with probably the most complex front wing so far. Hopefully we get more angles.
