Wait a minute, since when does McLaren have the infrastructure to manufacture an engine? I thought all the custom-built engines the automotive division uses came from Ricardo?

Perhaps the engine from McLaren Arthura was used as a basis? What are the engine regulations anyway? If you use stock engines, say, slightly detuned, they'll last a long time under racing conditions. This is usually the case in touring car series. But here, perhaps McLaren redesigned this engine for endurance racing. That's just the first thought that comes to mind. I don’t know.
Reading on mclarens endurance page they state McLaren designed and developed the engine and used ATM to build it along side McLarens own engineers doesn’t surprise me there designing there own engines for WEC McLarens been dabbling with hybrids since the p1 back in 2013 albeit through ricardo
Ok, thanks! I don’t know about it.

Session keeps getting red flagged, Ollie Bearman just stopped on track.

They're about to roll out with a car that will look exactly like the renders

Had some work to do and just came to check if anyone had got a glimpse of the car on track, but it seems like no running so far. It might rain after 12, so it's weird how they haven't gone out for an installation lap even.

Man this testing really is a missed oportunity for F1 in general. It is closed so that any team wouldnt get any bad press but everything is still sort of heard. All the red flags and stopages. Why not just show the whole thing

Feels like it's a result of the teams wanting more testing, near their bases, so Barcelona, and Bahrain paying to be the 'official host of F1 pre season testing.'

So we get this 'shakedown week' with no coverage to presumably avoid upsetting the Bahrainis.

Hopefully we get photos of the car that aren't in bigfoot quality soon. I'm sure the car will have a lot of interesting things going on like the other top teams.
Will this help? It doesnt look like the render in either the front wing which is the best in my opinion so far or the floor and there is a little wing behind the back brake also.

The McLaren testing livery looks nothing like the pictures released?

Rob Marshall on the launch MCL40: "I think what you see is probably pretty much what we'll bring to the first race. A lot of our effort will be going into understanding this. Also we need to take into account what the opposition are up to. We need to be inspired by what they may or may not achieve, and may or may or may not show us. We really are going to have to be very focused on getting our heads around these cars. It's very complicated. It's all new. There's a lot of stuff that we need to dial in and tune in, so I think bringing a lot of new stuff to it early doors would complicate things, and I think we're better off understanding our platform before we get too keen on redesigning it before it's turned a wheel."

I doubt that between now and Australia teams won't bring updates,so Rob Marshall says a lot of BS to confuse the opponents 😁

Ferrari literally said the car in Barcelona would be a base spec and would be different in Melbourne?
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Take everything with a grain of salt. We should wait and see how the car develops and what times it can produce in the following tests before claiming where it could stand compared to the opposition.

I read somewhere that you must choose between a car with high rake and a car with the hole in the difusser.
