Audi R26

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Almost as though they are using a different pivot point, central to the chord rather than at the rear?

I feel James Key needs to show results this year if Audi wants to win in three years. If not, replacing him later would likely cost them more time, as a new technical director would need a couple of seasons to settle and build the foundations for a strong car.

Just 11 laps in the morning of the 3rd day after 96 laps in the 2 previous days. Things are not looking great for the team and they really need track time.

It's an additional "private" shakedown test for this reason.

A clear front view of the car, and the impact of the suspension arm in the sidepod inlets.

Interesting how they have the opposite aero idea from Aston Martin. Low sidepods with small undercut, prioritizing the flow over the sidepods, while the Aston has a massive undercut and underbite, trying to send as much air as possible under the sidepods.

Now there unusual take on the rear DRS pivot makes more sense…
More disruptive to the flow on the upper face of the wing than the lower face.
That is a monster second element!!

Now that is different
Side pods are certainly unique. Looks like they've changed the front wing activator to be individual pods like the VCARB too

We have Aston with all the undercut possible, and Audi with none whatsoever

This frontal view impressed me too, looks pretty "squared" :wtf:, interesting shape overall.

wow. Look at those sidepods

It looks like they were not running active front wing in Barcelona. They now have VCARB style two actuators.
