Aston Martin AMR26

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The rear suspension is by far the most unique part. Will be interesting to see in detail.

How do they manage enough rigidity in the rear suspension by attaching it there?

The nose looks like the Colani Miura LeMans Concept.

Big louver exit on the side, as I expected. What I suggested back in June.

Skimming through the 2026 regulations, it seems to have some easter eggs. The biggest one may be the changes to wording of the engine cover & louver aperture allowances. They might provide the main visual differentiator of 2026: large unusual louvers. ...

... Emphasis on narrowness around the rear suspension. I hope they turn a new leaf conceptually. Eliminate the familiar center cannon and do total louver efflux. ...
Can't tell if there is a center cannon at the rear or not. Traditional sidepod shapes, it seems, although very compact.
...

Other items of interest:
--RB19 type sidepod inlet
--pushrod front & rear
--rear suspension arms mounted to the RW pylons
--large roll hoop wings
--large halo vanes
--two legged RWAS adjuster fairing?
--spoon shaped nosecone
Sidepod is floating. Totally straight g-line. No concern for outwash, it seems. Straight shot to the diffuser front the front of the floor. Very interesting! I had been guessing at use of blunt sidepod outwash to work the floor boards. RB22 sort of provided that, but here there is no concern for it.

Sidepod is much more in the style of Merc than McLaren.

Sidepod profile shape from the side looks the same as last year, maybe slightly deeper undercut, except the inlet which looks like RBR-18.

you can't move the whole wing, it would also touch the tarmac.
But is it illegal? And I think it it's mounted roughly in the middle it could be rotated enough, physically.

Regardless, can the front wing actuator mechanism be realistically be hidden in the front wing spars?

That front rear suspension arm mounts right under the front halo mount/middle of the Aston logo
Interesting feature. The spar for the floor and the suspension arm almost shares the same spot.

Stop with the AI crap. We just saw a video from F1s official X channel, and there is no red on the wings. And stroll had a green helmet, not gray. The AI also blended together the top two elements of the floor barge board, etc...

Looks like a pull-rod front suspension
Its push rod, but with massive “anti-dive”
Something funny is going on in this suspension.

Looks like the upper and the lower back legs are nearly joining at the same point... Or that the lower member does not have a rear leg at all. :wtf:

Photo not clear enough, but the front suspension is far from conventional.

The front of the sidepods have a huge undercut. And with this inmense sidepod opening, I hope the body work to be nearly closed at the back. Are we invoking someone called Meredith? =P~

ImageBlue driveshaft.
They've mounted the top wishbones extremely high, that's what is causing the confusion. There are also support struts visible towards the diffuser in the rear picture.

There's some sort of duct in the front wing - cooling isn't as large compared to other teams, looks wild to me - so interesting all around.
