Alpine A526

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

This front wing is very different than others, the main plane connects almost in the middle of the endplate and there are fences below on each side

It's clear that this Alpine has had a lot more time being developed in a windtunnel than other cars. It might be due to their additional windtunnel resources and more sacrifice of 2025 compared to others.

Alpine similar to the Ferrari uses a front bib for some aero management. Sidepods look very 'Alpine-like', similar shape to previous years with VERY shallow waterslides

True, but I personally think that they had to go very conservative in some areas. They are not in a position to take a big risk, at least now

The drs is unusual. They drop the trailing edge rather than raise the leading edge

just read an article on motorsport that Alpine is the only team that flaps down the rear active wing. all other teams that participated to the shakedown so far flap their active rear wing up. clever idea.

maybe they follow a total different concept with the front wing fixed in the middle of the endplate and they also are next to Cadillac using pullrod instead of pushrod at the front.

I also just read that the rear wing folds down instead of opening

Does this system allows a less erratic disruption of the airflow in the quick moment the wing pass from X to Z config?
Less momentary turbulences maybe?

I wonder if it that rear wing upper flap movement could also be more effective at reducing the diffuser efficiency on straights by reaching further back and lower down to disturb the downstream flow of the diffuser.

The exposed tips of the top of the endplates are basically additional upward facing winglets.

Could they be made to create strong vertices that other DRS designs are unable to make to create further disruption and further reduce drag?

That's innovative if true.

What corner is this? Looks like exit of T12 or T13?

That's the exit of 9, and the building in the background is the bridge with the TAG Heuer logo in the 2025 gp.
