I would like some career advice. I am 28 years old and graduated in chemical engineering in 2023. I have 2 years of work experience in non-professional jobs. For 11 motnhs, I currently work full time in an insurance company as a medical assistant for additional health insurance. I am an intermediary in the communication between the insurance company and the polyclinic. I read the medical prescriptions and order the insurance for examinations following the insurance rules. Communication is done through phone calls and emails. Working hours are 8am-4pm. Weekends are non-working and I have the option of working 2 days a week from home.
In short, I did not get the opportunity to work in the profession during my two years of work service.
My question is what jobs should I look for if I want to test myself in the profession. I finished chemical engineering because I was attracted to the modus operandi of engineers in F1, where they study the regulations and cover gray areas in order to get the most out of their product and stay ahead of the competition in a "smart" way. For example BrawnGP or the current gray zone with the compression ratio of the Mercedes engine. Is it a position in regulatory operations or something else? R&D? Admittedly, I've never seen myself as a person who develops drugs or transformers or anything like that.
Psychologically - I'm attracted to exploiting the gray areas in the rulebook to outperform the competition. I want to develop that skill.
In addition, I have completed pedagogical and psychological training, which in Croatia offers the possibility of working in primary and secondary schools as a teacher, but I believe that this knowledge is transferable to other workplaces.
Finally, I'm financially stable, I'm saving for a down payment for a mortige, I'm not ready to move because I don't have a B category. Regarding the engineering career I am a bit lost because I have no experience so I would like to ask for advice from more experienced people here.
