30hp might as well be on a bike.

The fact is, in my opinion, that his skill also lies in listening to the ideas of all the engineers and trying to rework them, help them, make the right decision. As I said in the previous post, I think he's very good at instilling confidence in engineers and helping them make the leap in quality.

30hp is a huge deficit. No amount of aero wizardry is closing that power gap.
That was the gap Renault had compared to Ferrari from 2010 to 2013.
And the V8-s were not as powerful as today's hybrids.

There's two concerns :

PU deficit they can work on it but will take time remembers me of 2015 with one and unique customer : McLaren, they at least need two teams if they want to be quickly in the game, like when they had RBR/RB !

Overweight issues...

That's not an optimal start of a season so far, time will tell if they had make good choices.

Wondering if the return of the rake is gonna work ?

I’m eager to see how all of this will turn out.

Sauber was on the weight limit at the beginning of 2022. Redbull went into the season with quite a bit of excess weight.

Who won the WDC+WCC by the end of the season and who finished P6 in the WCC, consistenly off more than 1 second? Weight doesnt really matter if you generate no load or/and castrate yourself by having a shorter car

Sauber was screwed when teams voted to raise the weight limit at the last moment, negating most of the weight advantage that Sauber had. It then only took 4-6 races for most teams to get their cars to the minimum weight.

We can only hope that Aston Martin can cut its weight that quickly, given the rumours that the car is significantly overweight at the present.

I am glad Kyle mentions in the beginning that no car is designed by one person, even if it is Newey.
He is starred like a Hollywood actor, while the movie is still being written, directed by others, plus 1000 other important people.

Adrian doesn’t actually design anything, but his fingerprints are clearly all over this car. It would not look anything like this had he not joined the team

His job is to set the direction the design takes, and task his team to achieve it

The cars aero philosophy is basically the same as every other car. All teams have identified what is required. I.e rake, clean airflow to the top of the diffuser, outwash of the front tyre wake keeping it away from disturbing the rear wing etc.

What is different is the Adrian is not afraid to take risks and absolutely intent on maximising the effectiveness of every component function & design feature, regardless of the engineering challenge that may pose. That’s why people refer to the car as extreme. He sets his expectations higher than what others believe is possible and empowers people to deliver

10-15 at most. Not to say renault was the best, but it also wasn't absolutely awful.

Its to early to predict anything, especially because the teams still able to use the fossil fuel during the tests, including 2 bahrain tests, so, we dont know anything until the BioFuel starts on everyone in Melbourne. I trust in the car and specially how Newey and the other will be improved during the season. But i still dont trust on Honda, for me, Honda will be the season a masteclass disaster. Im praying im wrong so much about Honda, but, i have traumas.

They had token system in place back then. The token system limited what a PU manufacturer could change from year to year. Specifically they weren't allowed to change more than 2 Major parts during the off season. Teams could change the exhaust and the head but not the intake. Well how do you change the exhaust and the head without changing the intake since both the intake and the exhause are connected to the head? It wasn't RBR that helped Honda, it was the elimination of the token system that allowed them to completely redesign the PU. There are no such restriction today. Just financial.

I am also thinking same way when they Announced that Honda partnership. finger crossed. let see. It is similar to 2015 Mclaren. I don't think Alonso + Honda will work either.
