Aston Martin AMR26

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Doesn't look like they are. Quite obvious limit in the main straight. Top speed reached is about 296 in the penultimate straight. For reference, Max reached 337 in his fastest lap on the main straight. Oscar and Lewis around 323.

On that penultimate straight, Max was doing ~310.

The passive front wing they have on right now would also hamper their straight line speed

James Allison (Mercedes) suggested that the front flap has very little effect on drag. It's primary purpose is for balance adjustment. The rear wing is the primary drag reduction tool.

I don’t think that is passive, actuators on third element visible here in Wiktors post (above)

We haven't seen a DRS actuator like this before.

These sidepods are strangely similar to the early 2022 spec AMR 22 with that extreme undercut.

Looks like there is a hole (for adjusting 3rd front wing element actuation rod(s)?) just under the Valvoline V too, so maybe this FW is active. Or can be.

Alonso said they had to keep developing in the cooling area so they are probably testing differents covers.
