2026 car comparisons

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Most of the team already has a lot of outwash. That didn't take long

Is it a coincidence that we are seeing the front lock up from all the teams with the extreme front antidive?

Actually I'm surprised teams are putting that much anti dive on a non-ground effect car.

They didn’t stop being ground effect cars - they just stopped having Venturi tunnels.

That’s the result of no front axle regen. You need a very stable platform with good rear axle contact in order to harvest as much as possible. If they allowed harvesting on both axles, there would be no reason to have that much anti-dive.

Mclaren is the smallest, similar to last year. Mercedes has additional openings at the midsection

Red Bull gearbox looks massive in comparison to last year. Mclaren almost the same.

Sorry I meant mercedes engine relative to red bull power unit.

I can see that McLaren has the most closed up body, which is similar to 2025 where they also achieved this across the calendar.

Surely those RB22 pillars will be copied. Two large VGs right under the wing? Seems ideal.
