Red Bull RB22

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Ah, the same rules that defined the shape of the Mercedes zero pods? Where they had some odd curvatures but only because of those specific x, y, Z sections?
Basically. The wording has changed significantly between these two regulation cycles, though. Similar levels of convoluted, you might say.

I believe (and have believed for a while now) that red bull are running their lower rear front suspension arm such that it mounts to the chassis very far back. Having seen with latest pics that McLaren are doing similarly, i'm fairly sure that'll be confirmed on the RB22 soon

well RB definitly choose their own path different to McL and AM
will be very interesting to when the designs start to align which route will be choosen

And the most interesting part. Do wache and his team have what it takes. Its them that was chosen by Horner. Now can they deliver

The 'cooling cannon' beneath the halo (ROKT sticker) is new, isn't it ? or was it always there in Barcelona, just that it was 'covered more' ?

They have multiple variations of that panel that they can use depending on cooling requirements. In Barcelona I believe we saw 3 options, one of which had the cooling opening

The cooling seems well done if the "hot weather" spec is just a cannon exit on the sidepod.

That sidepod looks like such a patch-job.

This bit here looks like a detachable piece. Quite weird. I wouldn't be surprised if RedBull turns up with different sidepods at some point during this test or the other.

I guess the "final" revision will look more like AM with a heavy undercut

They are using the sidepod to extend the floor entry like Audi at the moment. If they try to get the undercut, then they give up on this effect. So, it's possible, but it would mean they shift philosophy completely.

I don't think so but the "patchiness" reminds me of the pre-season RB18. EvH said there would be changes in Melbourne.
