If this is the car to fight the top four teams.... Surely there is more to come for the side pods even if it's after the fly-away races.

That's optimistic, the main competition is going to be Alpine who has a similar concept but is much more refined and developed. I mean the bargeboard area looks very basic. Nothing stands out so far.

I hope for Jame's sake the car is comparably fast as that would resolve a lot of the back pressure from being inexcusably late. But if it blows chunks, man it's really going to be costly to his now very old and very stale claims re their prep for 2026. Hoping the best for this team. I want them to be successful.

Those public claims on focusing all efforts on 2026 must be haunting Vowles. 2025 was really the year they should have focused on. I said so in 2024 already, because it's the year others are going to focus on the new regulations early.

A team like Williams could have developed the car all season and stolen some good results near the end, maybe more podiums.

Then turn up with a basic car this year and see what happens.

It's a MUCH more realistic and cunning use of resources.

The cars haven't even hit the ground for the first official testing session and people have already determined the competitive order and this car's performance.

While I agree with your overall take, they could not have done much better in 2025 than they did, even if they had tried? If anything, finishing P5 last year takes some pressure off the decision to focus on 2026 so early

Car has been very reliable thus far in testing. Most laps in Day 1 and are on course to be at the top or close to it in Day 2.

Seems like the team is feeling pretty good. Good start.

The alarm bells are ringing, slowly losing any hope of a good 2026 campaign. Fighting for occasional podiums and closing gap to top 4 is out of the equation. The long run pace is atrocious even Cadillac seem to be quicker. Alpine is out of reach forget Merc and Mclaren who are second a lap quicker. I know it only testing but the signs are not positive based on race sims. Car is definitely heavy and cumbersome.
