This is super if true. Even if we have built a dud (I hope we haven't). A predictable dud is a way better starting point for development.

What happened to the talk of Spec A for Barcelona, spec B for Bahrain ? It seems it was the same car today. Any new parts coming in ?

As I was saying. I doubt there will be Spec B. Especially in testing. I don’t remember when was the last time They brought totally different car vs launch spec.

Lewis is using strategic impression management to present himself as disadvantaged, while still benefiting from the change and allowing everyone to save face. ofc he wanted the guy gone.

As I was saying. I doubt there will be Spec B. Especially in testing. I don’t remember when was the last time They brought totally different car vs launch spec.

I think the terminology is a bit misleading. The “A” and “B” spec cars used to be official designations and denoted things like a different chassis etc. In this case, I think what they were basically saying is that they would bring a basic, vanilla car at launch and incrementally add to it - not bring one big B spec car all at once. I imagine testing all the new parts in isolation would be easier to understand and right now you can see that they’re working on correlation for the basic package (and good correlation will then help when bringing new parts).

If you’re expecting any one change of the magnitude of the traditional B spec, it’ll probably be the rumoured lightweight chassis (which you won’t be able to see) but I wouldn’t expect that until next week at the earliest.

"Maranello was awaiting FIA approval for the homologation of certain components of the car. The SF-26 is therefore expected to undergo further modifications before the season kicks off in Melbourne. However, the Scuderia has already unveiled this season's very first innovations in Bahrain with a new front wing and flat bottom!"

They had an entirely new front wing, and sidepod flow conditioners, also modified floor... this is a lot in my opinion.
And people always forget, what is under the hood can change too, you just do not see it. It can be even more important as well.

We will not know until Australia, its a lot of people guessing at this point, it is what it is. Team might have an idea but they won't be telling anybody in the media the truth, this is Formual One.
