Shouldn't these cars have inherently more front end than previous generation ?
Yes, but when you're out there observing on the sidelines, your eyes will be more trained on relative differences of the cars you're watching than some diminishing memories of what the cars from the year before were doing.

Lawrence Barretto, F1TV reports that "they (Red Bull Racing) are planning to test their 'race one' aero package next week, so keep your eyes on the Red Bull for tweaks when it hits the track in Bahrain for the final test."

Maybe red bull have pulled a blinder in regards to harvesting and built a gearbox/engine around extreme harvesting approaches.. let's see if this continues. And how much the look of the current car evolves. Currently it looks fairly vanilla on the grid
I agree. In all of the areas where other teams are showing details, Red Bull lacks details and pieces (front wing endplate, rear brake tin, bib, floor edge, rear wing endplate, etc). I guess we'll see some modifications next week.

Makes sense that PU & transmission is very well developed since there've been no restrictions, while aero development was first forbidden and then compromised by RB21.

Red Bull technical director Pierre Wache said in the press conference just moments ago that Red Bull is not the best team, but the fourth best team.

Wache: "According to our analyses, Ferrari, Mercedes, and McLaren currently appear to be ahead of us, while we're right behind them. Of course, we could be wrong since we don't know the other teams' fuel loads or engine modes. Right now, instead of looking at others, we're focusing on addressing our own shortcomings."

"The traction in low-speed corners looks quite good. Additionally, Ferrari and Mercedes have quite impressed us with their straight-line speeds, especially in runs with low fuel loads. Of course, it's hard to draw a clear picture until everyone demonstrates their true performance with the same amount of fuel in Melbourne's qualifying sessions. However, I can say this: just like last year, the medium- and low-speed corners still stand out as our weakest point that we need to improve."

Baretto says that red bull are planning to bring their race 1 Aero package to the bahrain test next week

All of the mercedes-powered teams and their drivers are talking about red bull and its engine. No surprise there.

It seems like there's a competition for underdog status. Wache may be right for now. The car looks undercooked compared to some of the other teams and consequently they seem to be lacking performance in the middle sector. The upgrade package will be very revealing.

As the others have said the most encouraging thing outside of the engine is the fact that the RB22 looks pretty basic compared to the other front runners. There is a lot to come from the front wing and barge boards in particular. They’ve probably been pretty conservative on weight so there are some easy gains there as well. This car will probably win races this season.

Indeed we have a lot of free time to unlock. Imagine if we come to Australia and be 0.5s ahead of the field like Brawn gp in 2009. Wow it would be amazing.

Very unlikely though. I think we need to be realistic...4th fastest according to Wache.
Ferrari looks solid but I'd say it's McLaren in Australia, a lot is pointing towards that.

Edit: But I'd take with both hands if RBR is ahead of the field :D

Hadjar's race stint actually looks quite decent given where the car is currently and who was driving it. It will be very interesting to see what Max can do in an upgraded car next week. Ferrari really took a step with their upgrades.
