I’m not sure that the PU advantage will play such a big part in race trim. If the Ferrari can manage deg more effectively, simply having a great PU isn’t worth as much as maybe first thought?

They still are not with innovative rear wing. Development is already been done. I am sure they will introduce the rear wing soon on power centric tracks like Monza

Every car is different but it generally seemed like the C4 was 0.3-0.5s advantage over C3 on a single push lap.

This has been the best testing session since Bahrain 2022 for sure.
Obviously this time there is a huge unknown, which is relative engine performance. We don't know how strong each engine is, really.

I'm really surprised because i thought the car was going to be a disaster from an aero point of view and clearly that isn't the case. I've been very critical with Ferrari because last year was really too much to bear.
Hopefully this year is going to be better.

Lap count matters a lot for simple preparation purposes and to prove reliability. Overall lap counts for all tests are good.

The team are certainly very ready for Melbourne. Dont know where they'll be on the grid, but they should be able to focus on performance, tires and strategy and all the important things rather than dealing with issues.

Ferrari is leaving Bahrain happy; correlation is good, they're satisfied with durability. Performance is also good.

There are also new parts prepared for Melbourne.

Both Leclerc and Hamilton have given positive feedback so far. But they're aware that Mercedes is keeping its hand hidden.

I see F1 differently. Most people usually judge by the last few races or last year.
F1 is different, you have to look at the last few years. They did not have a bad car in 25, especially aero wise, they "only" had a baked in problem in the chassis/suspension from the start. But I am more than convinced now, they were not working on the 25 car more than 5% last year, they were focusing on 26. They could have fixed last years car, but it was all in for 26. And you can see the result now of that effort.
So I do not think they had bad aero last year, I expected good there. The suspension and engine were the biggest question marks.
Engine because it is new, suspension because that was (is) the part where Ferrari truly had problems in the last few years.

This to me is the most encouraging thing. Given the time of day, I would say that this is possibly the best race sim we’ve seen (when corrected for high temps) and I think it bodes well for the drivability of the car and how it looks after tyres. Coupled with what seems to be a start advantage, it ought to mean good races.

The one lap pace was very good but I’m sceptical about how much Mercedes is keeping in reserve. Just gut but they certainly seem confident and I think they’ll crank it up a notch in Melbourne. Much was made in commentary (led by the Mercedes sim driver Ant Davidson…) that Bahrain suits Ferrari more than other tracks - I’m not entirely sure how much I believe that (a drivable car with smooth delivery and good tyre life is a good thing on pretty much all tracks) but it’ll be something to look out for.

I think it’s been a very good pre season and although there’s still a lot we don’t know (eg engine modes/fuel loads, Melbourne upgrades etc) I am cautiously optimistic.
