Good pace today. Improving little by little and no longer part of the slowest pack. I’d say probably 7th team

yeah, that looked quite mature today. Qualy-sim pretty nice and the long stints on hard tyres not too bad. 7th is optimistic but depending on their level of sandbagging they could surprise me.

Being new as an engine manufacturer and having twice the running of the Astons is a great achievement. To basically have one less race distance covered compared to the other manufacturers is a great sign of the work done on the engine
Dear God let this be the year

One thing I noticed is how slugged the Audi car's start is, with Bortoleto having a bad start on day 1 and day 3, being the complete opposite of Ferrari. Also, Hulkenberg had problems during a pratice start, activating the anti-stall.

I believe this could indicate that Audi might have the biggest turbo among the PUs.

I'm pretty impressed with Audi so far. The engine is pretty solid and the car is innovative. The overall package is more competitive than I expected and they'll be comfortably in the midfield. If they can do this in their first year off the very meh platform the old Sauber team provided then it's very positive on them being contenders at some point this rule cycle. Wheatley and Binotto have proven themselves the right people to lead this.

Same here, good job for Audi, I expected them to be last and have engine issues, basically being Aston.
Yet this is for now a very solid and serious start =D>

Very impressive that Audi could potentially be considered a midfield contender going into the first race. I think this is the best case scenario they would have planned for. The only complaint for Audi fans is how expensive their merch is 😔

Audi has surprised me as well. I know they bought a team, but this is their first PU and their aero looks pretty bold.

I'm not at all surprised that Sauber, who has gone through countless naming evolutions and owners, are still producing half decent results.

Obviously the focus is on the brand new power unit, made from scratch.

Yea and they seemingly did a decent enough job, but unless they did a really terrible job, we still dont exactly know how competitive that engine really is in any kind of direct comparison. People are praising the laptimes, but being roughly 1.5 seconds off the pace does not indicate the engine is great, just not poor.

And maybe it's just me, but I never expect Audi to show up with an outright poor engine.

I agree 100%. Audi may have been the most impressive of the “new” teams and I would not be surprised if they are close to the Racing Bulls and Williams at the first few races. I expect them to eventually get to the mid pack by the end of this season. They have a big turbo for sure and the top speeds they were showing might assist them at Monza to get a surprise Q3 slot. They are certainly ahead of Aston Martin and Cadillac, and even potentially Williams.
Can they catch Racing Bulls and Haas over the season remains to be seen. I think Alpine are the best of the mid pack, and are hiding their true pace like all of the Mercedes teams until Melbourne.

Perhaps if the Audi drivetrain is solid Lawrence Stroll should get on the phone now to inquire about 2027, as the hope that Honda will turn that mess around quickly is probably slim. Love to see Audi in the points by mid season which I think is a definite possibility with the team and drivers. If it rains don’t discount Hulkenberg to grab a point as he is always handy in the wet.

Audi just seemed like a team which was doing "nothing" from the outside but looking at the whole situation again, I guess it doesn't really make sense to get surprised at them doing good. This is pretty much Sauber with more funding/resources and a technically (on paper) better team. Don't know enough about PUs yet to have a proper ranking, but even if they're behind Merc, Ferrari and RBPT, it didn't seem in testing at least that they're miles behind. Certainly nowhere near a Honda situation, which I guess deserves some praise.
