Random 2026 Predictions

Post

For predictions not related to pecking order

Either Audi or Cadillac will score in Australia with beginner's luck, but not both

Bottas will outqualify Perez by a significant margin but score fewer points (specifically, I predict their final tally will be 0 - 6, respectively)

Both Aston Martin drivers will retire from F1

At least one team will be caught going over the budget cap

Lawson will outperform Lindblad

At least one race will be cancelled

Miami and Barcelona will produce surprisingly good races

There will be a large, episodic controversy about safety car timing around mechanical retirements

Aston Martin will be sold to the Saudis and the Strolls will exit at the end of the season.
There will be at least one race winner from outside the big 4 teams.
McLaren will win both titles again.
Red Bull will end the season with the fastest car.
Audi will end the season fighting at the front of the midfield.
The new cars will make wet races even more dangerous and we'll see at least one race cancelled outright because of track conditions.

There's a collision between the Mercedes drivers during a race. Hadjar will win a race. At least 5 races have rain and chaos.
The FIA folds on a royal flush.

I think we'll see a race with a crash so bad it leaves a driver out for at least one race, due to the low downforce mode

Return of Horner in the paddock as a team owner (part owner). Alpine or Williams.

Alonso to announce retirement.

Alpine/Williams poaches Pierre Wache.

I think there will be more than one of these predictions will be correct. I would say 3 of these predictions will be correct.

Record most locked wheels in history
when I was young and gained consciousness starting watching f1 I thought locking the wheels was wonderful and thought this was needed for victory; later I loved locking up the wheels with my own car, especially going downhill into tight bends... big fun until ABS cars took over and spoiled the fun. So locking wheels has big nostalgia value for me, the more the better, Haha.

This might take longer than this year and is more serious than my other predictions but I think Binotto will prove his value as a team lead. I think his downfall had more to do with his political acumen than his ability to lead a team in a vacuum, and Wheatley should complement him well in this regard.
