Cadillac MAC-26

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Interesting front suspension link placement/design. Looks like the steering (track rod) link is mounted high and parallel with top front wishbone link.

I think the track-rod is in front of the upper front wishbone. That seam in the middle must be for the outer sheath to slide over the inner when tracking side to side. Can that be right?

Agree with your assessment, the sleeve slides to facilitate movement of steering rack extension on its way to upright.

Usually, they are placed in a "pairing" with primary track control wishbone to keep a no change in geometry effect throughout suspension travel. That makes the steering feel most linear to driver input.

Placing the rack up top of monocoque will give a simpler route from steering wheel column to the rack, possibly with minimal losses to affect feel for drivers.

In thus case, it looks to keep it away from suspension pull rod bell cranks etc too.

Apparently the car is called the MAC-26 instead of CA01 as previously thought #-o

So they actually found a way to get the Andretti name into F1. Tbh I was actually expecting them to anounce just before the season starts that Andretti will be a title sponsor or something and that team will be called Andretti Cadillac F1 Team with big Andretti logo on the engine cover

AFAIK There was nothing stopping them form calling themselves Andretti. Now they can only do it for next year, if they submit a request to change name in time.
