I remember the cry of Russel last year when we were 2-3 tenth faster than the 3rd…

Damn. It looks like the two factory teams have a significant engine advantage over the customers. Lets see though how it continues. Im sure Mclaren is not slower than Audi so they have to show something more.
And here we go again...
What do you mean? Everything seems to be ok after all.

McLaren taping up the wing that was damaged. I'd expect they would put a new wing on. Are they low on parts?

Ah, disappointing. Huge deficit to Mercedes but close with Ferrari and Hadjar. If Max is few tenths faster than Hadjar then they will be ahead of us. I expected a more. I hope development is strong.

BTW it can always be worse, at least we didn't hype ourselves up like Ferrari did.

Mercedes seem to have a significant deployment advantage. We are very close with Ferrari and Red Bull. Zak Brown did mention that we had some deployment issues.

I would like to point out that the hole in the diffuser is not the silver bullet that everyone was making it out during testing.

I am fairly confident that Mclaren will win the development war this year which bodes well for next year.

Aero wise the car seems ok. The difference seems to be deployment.

Anyone saw if Norris wing collapsed in the last sector? First two was personal best but was yellow in the last, and the wing hanging on the start/finish line.

What were the sector difference from the first two parts from pole?

I was expecting half a second slower in quali and a stronger Ferrari.

As soon as we upgrade our car we'll be fighting for podiums.

Great concern now is long run pace, we seemed be off big time.

Anyone knows if there were deployment issues on both Mclarens? Zak Brown said something about it.

So as expected, first races of the season, till Miami lets say, only available will be P3. Only with some luck to fight for something else. Mercedes is miles ahead of everyone.
We are where we expected to be, "in the mix" that mean from P3/P4 to P8. Anyway, a better position than McLaren previous reg changes in 2022.
So for me is ok to use this year as a starting point and to go up like in 2022-2025 period.

PS: strange decision from McLaren to tape the FW and not to change it, I hope this will not affect Lando's race tomorrow.
