Williams must be somewhat thankful that Aston Martin is sucking up all the negative press for a team being disappointing this season.

So basically, Vowles sold a bag of sh*t to Sainz and he bought it. "It's all about '26."

Sainz did not have a chance anywhere else. No top team wants him anymore.
The FIA folds on a royal flush.

According to Sainz, he was the luckiest driver on the grid in 2024 when he could "choose" his seat. Audi would have been the other one, which now seems to be heading toward becoming a solid works team in the long run.

Audi was an option, specially when Andreas Seidl was leading the project. He chose Williams because of the engine, or apparently that was what the spanish press said. Tbf, back then, between Merc and a new joiner, I think most driver would have chose Merc.

I was surprised he chose Williams. Audi seemed like a better bet but maybe longer term. Williams has to beat McLaren and Mercedes with the same engine to have a chance for a championship.

So Vowles said that it's "impossible" to know the weight of the car before testing, and that it's surely not overweight. Now Albon has said they are overweight. How long is Williams going to let this guy talk bullsh*t?

I keep saying it, that a team like Williams are going about it backwards. They were never going to be competing in the top 5 at a regulation start, unless 2014 repeats with a big PU advantage and at least 3 top teams getting it badly wrong.

Williams should build towards a great car for the final year of the regulations and capitalize on the big teams shifting resources and development to the new set.

Once again, a lot of words with zero facts. Their drivers have explained in more detail what's wrong than their team principal.

Vowles now has the solution in his email. Unbelievable.
https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/...f ... /10803691/

”It's not complicated to bring it [the weight] down,” said Vowles on the Sunday of the Australian weekend. “Already what I have in my inbox today is all of the engineering steps to not just bring it down, but actually be underweight by a good amount. That exists to us.”

So looks like the original rumors of about 25-30kg overweight are correct. Vowles is now quoting 6 races before its rectified.

Missing almost a second of performance there if the 0.03-.04s/kg calculation still holds true.

Albon says, regardless of weight, they are still missing some dowforce as well.

Vowles is getting exposed as a serial liar and a fraudster day by day. So the rumours of double digit weight issue were true despite him denying them. Pre season he posted videos before launch saying they have a great car and can't wait to show it.
That is straight garbage. They might have the downforce for midfield but they ain't sniffing the top 4 anytime this year.
I fear they went in the wrong direction with the front suspension, all 3 cars at the back of the grid have the pull rod which might not be the way for this aero package. Every team is going to be aggressively developing while Williams are battling weight loss. Imagine if Vowles was leading Audi, the excuses would be non stop, yet Jonathan Wheatley has quietly done a stellar job, they had two aero packages built and tested, new engines and gearboxes made without vibrational issues. Sainz must be begging Audi to have him back. He would have earned twice as much as he is now which also will it help his frustration.
The need sound engineer designing the car and not the guy known for building overweight chassis leading the technical department.
