Yep. In testing they saw the huge advantage and everything worked as expected if they are able to fast forward it for China. The original plan was Montreal according to Autoracer.
This wing is a crucial piece of the puzzle for Ferrari.

If I understand the issues in recharging it's this.
LICO saves fuel, can recharge up to 350 KW but has additional drag due to the active aero going to high down force mode. So the car slows down due to wind resistance and the engine etc.
With super clipping you can stay in active aero on for low drag mode, using the engine can charge the battery faster but is limited to 250 KW, wouldn't this use more fuel than LICO? The car also slows down because some of the power is diverted from the rear tires to charge the battery.
Has anyone determined when it's beneficial to use one over the other or is it team dependent? (ie type of corners, length of straights, track characteristics, etc.) Do you use more super clipping early in the race and LICO more at the end of a race to conserve fuel.
Are teams going to move towards one or the other as the season progresses?

I swear Vasseur already said they'd be running the Melbourne car in China. Either way, if there was pace in hand, Mercedes will just use it anyway and scoot off into the distance. Should be an easy podium again for Ferrari at least.

I am also expecting it to be way closer between Ferrari and Mercedes in China. Mercs are probably untouchable in quali, but if Ferrari straighten out the problems with the deployment, they should lock out the second row at least. The start will probably see them take the lead as well and then we should have a battle in our hands.

That wing (imo), puts them in front of Merc in all trim. It is worth 4-5km/h on straights. That is double digit horsepower gain.

I think Australia exaggerated the difference between Merc and Ferrari.

I am sceptical of that number, but there's probably no way to find out for sure. I don't expect super clipping to be as bad in China, but how soon/late they start doing it in the back straight relative to each other should be a good indicator anyway. I think the top speed in itself is less valuable in comparison to whatever drag reduction it brings. Of course they go hand in hand together, but with these regulations having less drag down the straights it's a huge benefit for battery efficiency as well.

Three specifications of this wing are being brought and there's only 1 FP. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the drivers (probably Leclerc as he never takes sprints seriously) has a very turbulent sprint Q and race, but then the real race is very competitive once things get dialed in.
