Well... This PU format is 50% ICE and 50% MGU-K so when the battery is empty you've lost 50% of your power (MGU-K portion). Also in the case of super clipping you're using the ICE to regen via MGU-K so that's even less power to the wheels.

Forgive me for a silly question, am I reading this wrong or does this mean the cars will be dawdling through turns 7-9 and 11-12 recharging and then blasting down the straights ?

I'd rather see racing through corners than a drag race down the straight.

This graph only shows where the SLM is. It says nothing about how teams use there engines.

Some people forget to seperate clipping and super clipping. But classic clipping we know from 2014 to 2022 is rare under this regs.

This is in Shanghai no? Not in the streets of Philadelphia. The only reason your man won the sprint here last year is because they had the car set way too low. DSQ from the main race as that is longer so the plank does not survive. It was a farce.

There is no space at all between 11 and 12, even last year Piastri couldn't pick up the throttle in his pole lap. Between 9 and 10 there's a little more space, but not so much. The shenanigans will happen between 10 and 11, there's massive time loss if you run out of juice too early in the back straight.

The other place for recharging shenanigans (in the race) will be the run between 14 and 16. I imagine the ideal strategy will be to not brake for 16 and supercharge massively until you reach the min speed for the corner, like t9-t10 in Australia. In qualifying I think it's better to supercharge just a little bit use it on the exit, the timing line is not too far from the corner.

The recharging will be a non-issue, is my prediction. Look fairly "brakey" of a track.

It's because they are recharging. They are doing it in the high speed sections because one spends less time in a high speed section that a slow speed one on any given track. By recharging at the end of the straight, one has power available to make the corner shorter (in terms of time spent in the corner).

Lap time is always found in the slow sections of a track, not the high speed sections.
