2026 Regulations - Critique thread

To avoid other threads being littered with complaints about these regs. Could the discussion be held here?

There are already threads for this, like this one: viewtopic.php?t=32511&start=150

And if I were you I would watch the YT video that just has been posted from ‘the race’, that one clearly shows what an abomination this rule set is.

If i understood that video from The Race right, Leclerc lifted a bit (95% throttle) after having been at 100%, and as a result he got extra deployment in the straight, then he missed that energy later.
Then Ocon did the same (97% throttle blip after full throttle), and got less deployment in the straight.
Did I get that right?
Something does not add up with the explanation?

F1 is becoming a farce...drivers press the throttle but the speed decreases...Deployment is made by a cpu based system. So why they don't allow electronic suspension and abs and traction control? The drivers should drive the car. Deployment should be on the driver not a system. They should only have a boost aka kers button to deploy the electrical power not done by a system.

I think time has come for a new racing series. Instead of trying to re-enter F1 Horner should organize a new Circus. Light and fast cars, 13 inch wheels and ultra-iconic circuits (Nurb first). If he manage to get Max in....boom

I think he means the video posted last week about Leclerc's qualifying lap

As mentioned, the Leclerc qualifying lap video. But the admission of Norris not wanting to take over but being forced by the energy deployment is even a stronger indication of how terrible these rules are.

But Norris he was not forced to do it, it just caught him unaware. 50% throttle or 30% throttle was available to him.

Up until the season started I didn’t even know that drivers don’t have control over the deployment, but must obey a predefined system. This is absurdly stupid.

Sure, but do you lose even more time doing that?

I don’t see how in the big picture, and that is in any case not what he ranted about.

NA V10s, refueling and grid girls.

The current F1 would be forgotten in no time.

I was already trying to watch super formula instead this year but it's difficult to stream.

That seems intentional, misleading fans and viewers. No techincal explanations ever clarified for fans or infovideos.

There were additional quotes where he goes on to say if he did back off & get back on the throttle it would then dump the battery & he'd be a sitting duck on the straight. So it appears the drivers don't have much control at times.
