So now the cars will be quicker under race conditions than under Q?
Correcting myself here. During a Q lap you empty the battery. Under race conditions you don't. So Q will be quicker, just not as quick as it could have been.
'empty the battery' happens probably over 1/3rd of a lap. The battery capacity is 4MJ and the recharge/discharge 'upper-limits' (which FIA keep changing between races, and sometimes is smaller for Q than R) can range anywhere from 7MJ to 9MJ.

The FIA would be able to reduce the recovery limit in qualifying to as little as just 5MJ. Second bullet point:

I suspect they are going to do that in Monaco to prevent the cars from doing 330 out of the tunnel.

It won't be a surprise to see another win by Mercedes this Sunday but I think there will be only one of the Mercedes drivers on the podium this week along with Max and a McLaren driver.

Remember when Albert Fabrega would post the rear wing photos for the weekend? I miss that...

It seems that now everyone uses the same rear wing on every circuit because of the straight mode.

Reducing the recovery limit reduces the things that most people complain about (slowing down on straights, etc). So it is logical way to fine tune these regulations. I would go even lower than 8MJ.

Downshifting in to 130R, amazing F1 isn't it.

Looks like McLaren may have now discovered the software tricks, Ferrari are now clearly the 3rd fastest car.

Any thoughts of Redbull and how they could do better here? I don't think we need to really think about the Mercedes and Mclaren's being way up there in the front.
Forgot Ferrari?
Didn't think I would be correct :wtf:

I think Ferrari will still have the second fastest car on race day. But the Mercedes powertrain offers a bigger advantage during qualifying. If I was Ferrari I would just make sure the car can do a single lap and then spend the rest of the time focusing on race pace because its a bigger advantage there.

It's only Friday. They might have turned up the engine. Let's hope it's real progress... [-o<

No OFFENSE to f1, but this is the worst year for F1 since I have started watching it in 2001. A big joke, like an arcade game. Yeah will still watch it, but will not lose any sleep time for it.

So you grew up with these grooved tires, haha. Imagine what that did to those who didn't grow up with them.
