Indirectly about Mclaren. Their ownership (compared to other F1 parent companies) is by far the most affected by this madness that Trump unleashed in the Middle East.
If the war drags on a little bit longer, Mumtakalat will collapse because of their aluminium and other facilities are hit or blocked for proper functioning. Because of the war just until this point (April 2026) the Bahrain economy debt to GDP will rise to 150% more than 16% anually. Mumtakalat does not hold the vast resources that Kuweit or Qatar holds.
The team itself is profitable right now. In worst case scenario they could just switch owners, they are lucky they have invested into facilities recently so they are good for now on that department too.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

An ownership change has to be a very real possibility. All very well, but the relationship between the board and the team is critical to the well-being, and success of the team. You would have to hope any new owners would be as hands off as Mumtalakat.

Mod edit…
This post has been approved by me as it pertains directly to the team ownership and the potential effects on the team ownership.

But…

…politics…

…so keep any comments related to the team.

then the remark about trump should have been completely removed or modified to, "israel and the united states."

and that's all i'll say about it. (the fatigue is real...)

Sky believes that the upgrades in Miami will be very serious and will allow them to challenge Mercedes. The team is also very pleased with what they see on the simulator.

The team seem to be upbeat and quite bullish about the upgrades..Ususaly they underpromise and overachieve.

They must really be confident

I'm sorry, but Crofty is in no way a credible source regarding upgrades.

I think we're all waiting to see what the first round of upgrades can bring to Mclaren in this era considering the success they had in the ground effect era, but that is in no way a guarantee of any kind that they will be successfull.

Just out of curiosity, why isn't he credible?
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?

Because he says a lot of false things during his commentary and has no real understanding of aero or power unit. That's why sky has a lot of other people who are better at technical things and they can explain better some things.

Not even Ted Kravitz is a credible source for me regarding updates considering how many times he missed with his 'predictions and insider info' during his notebook.

They may have some real info this time, but why not post directly as a skyf1 piece instead of a spanish twitter account? They love some insider info and breaking news.

His remarks were reportedly made on a Sky Sports podcast, obviously this twitter account is repeating news thar has been reported by various outlets quoting Croft. I'm sure he's just relaying info he's obtained from discussions around the paddock or could even off the record conversations with McLaren staff, it's not a far-fetched scenario. Besides, he didn't mention specifics, and it's actually common knowledge upgrades are coming in Miami and Canada.

In Croftys defence, he is just being the mouthpiece for what Mclaren tell him.

For example in the pre-season F1 show on Sky, Brundle said: ‘I’ve had a team principle tell me that they are taking a new rear wing and floor to Australia’ and according to the car presentation submissions in Australia that’s what exactly what Mclaren did:

It is common knowledge that upgrades are coming in Miami and further, the claim is that they are seeing good sim numbers and they will challenge Mercedes.

I think Zak already said that they want some wins and are quite optimistic but they could've just quoted Zak and not a skyf1 journo.

To me this is not news and definitely not credible source, but recycled info with some clickbait title for clicks during this long break.

We have/had some insider info regarding Mclaren on this forum and was driven away by some users and now we're posting some Crofty said spanish tweet as a credible source?

Oh sweet irony. This is just my opinion ofc and by no means want to offend the user who posted this as i'm sure they mean well. Each is free to post what the rules allow.

Edit: Brundle is not Crofty and doesn't say things unless he has actual info, so it's not ok to put Brundle and Crofty in the same category.

Speaking of upgrades...I found it interesting that Red Bull's Japanese grand prix upgrade seemed to indicate that they are switching philosophy to a more downwashing aero concept similar to what we have seen thus far on the MCL40.

Is there any place where we can see the Wheel bases of all these cars? Does McLaren have the shortest wheel Base?
