2026 Scuderia Ferrari HP F1 Team

Erik Van Haren, one of the most reliable sources for things related to Verstappen, is reporting that GP (Max's race engineer) is preparing to leave in the long term, potentially to be McLaren's TP. Important for Ferrari... the paddock rumor mill according to Van Haren is that Stella is being eyed to replace Vasseur once he steps down. Stella and Ferrari's relationship is still good and his family prefers being in Italy.

I don't think Vasseur would leave Ferrari. Maybe he moves into a larger role in the org or becomes more of an advisor type?

All this would likely happen between 2027-2028 because of contracts but apparently discussions are underway.

Edit - there's some news circulating that GP already signed something with McLaren for 2028 and that Stella and Ferrari's discussions are more concrete than initially reported. I am not sure how truthful this is though, I predict tomorrow will have more news. I need to sleep now..

BTW, Leclerc will be Fiorano testing tomorrow (unsure about Hamilton)

I can’t believe it’s 30hp tbh - it would basically mean the Mercedes chassis is over 3% worse which would be surprising.

You can watch the onboards and telemetry and know full well Mercedes' chassis is pretty comparable with Ferrari's overall, if not better. In fact, Mercedes' car actually looks overall a fair bit more stable and planted than Ferrari. Their laptimes come absolutely effortlessly.

30hp is not remotely believable. Italian sources get like 1 in 20 claims right and that carries their credibility for years somehow.

But if Mercedes have more power available, they can run more drag and so a less compromised setup. This would lead to them looking more stable and planted.

That was exactly what was happening from 2014 to 2021. Huge engine advantage that permits you too have more downforce.

Seems like plans changed and Hamilton is actually the one testing. AR reporting both Leclerc and Vasseur are still in Maranello today

Its quite dumb that the rules limit the teams to a single actuator for the rear wing opening. If more than one was allowed, I think more teams would have already pursued this method, just not the amount of rotation.

A 2025 spec ICE vs. a 2026 spec ICE with higher compression ratio on top of it. What’s so unbelievable about a 30 hp deficit? Recent news have all been about Ferrari being in the ADUO2 ballpark.

It’s not that it’s theoretically unbelievable for one engine to be 30hp on another - I’m sure Honda is at least that far back - it’s unbelievable based on what we see from the actual performance of the cars as observed on track. I think 15 hp is believable, I’d be willing to accept 20 at a push, but 30 seems extremely unlikely from simply observing the cars.
